Gwyneth Paltrow, Kristin Davis, James and Zem Joaquin to Be Honored at EMA Awards

Today, the Environmental Media Association (EMA) has announced its 2015 honorees for the upcoming Environmental Media Awards, presented by Toyota and Lexus. The event will take place on October 24th at the Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California and recognize the exemplary commitment of individuals who heighten awareness of environmental concerns. This year's Environmental Media Awards honorees include such luminaries as Gwyneth Paltrow, Kristin Davis, James and Zem Joaquin for their ongoing commitment in promoting the public about environmental issues and inspiring millions to take action. In addition, EMA will honor Van Jones with the organization's inaugural EMA GreenBiz Global Innovator Award for his leadership, leading the efforts of the new green economy and environmental justice and moving them into tangible job creation.

EMA will be partnering with GreenBiz Group for the first time, a media and events company that advances the opportunities at the intersection of business, technology and sustainability. GreenBiz is the leading resource of insight, events, research and peer-to-peer networking for sustainable business professionals.

"While reflecting on the past 25 years of this Award show, we wanted to acknowledge individuals who continue to push towards a more sustainable future. These activists have tirelessly championed, each in their unique ways, to educate the public regarding conservation and respecting our natural resources to promote a safer and healthier environment," said Debbie Levin, President of the EMA. "As we look ahead to the next 25 years, we can only hope that their continued messaging and commitment will inspire a new generation of leaders towards the solutions that are dedicated to improve the quality of our planet."

Gwyneth Paltrow is one of today's most prolific and CELEBRATED actors in both television and film. As an esteemed author of several cookbooks, Paltrow recently took to Capitol Hill to campaign against the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act that would prevent states from passing individual GMO-labeling laws.
Kristin Davis is best known for the award-winning series Sex and the City. As an active philanthropist, Davis serves as Patron to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, has been a supporter of Oxfam since 2004 and works to tell the stories of refugees through the UNHCR. She is dedicated to inspiring change and creating awareness to stop illegal poaching of ivory. Davis Executive Produced the documentary Gardeners of Eden about the Trust, which is also nominated for the 2015 EMA Documentary Film category.

James Joaquin co-founded Obvious Ventures. The fund is focused on early-stage investments in world-positive companies; startups that combine profit and purpose to deliver strong financial returns in concert with positive environmental and social impact. Zem Joaquin is the Founder/Producer of Near Future Summit - a conference focused on discovery and scaling of the most profound solutions to some of the world's most pressing problems. Zem is on the founding team of the Cradle to Cradle Product Innovation Institute, Board Emeritus of Global Green USA and founder of their successful San Francisco event, which she chaired for a decade.

Van Jones is a Yale-educated attorney and CNN political commentator. He is the author of two New York Times best-selling books, The Green Collar Economy (2008) and Rebuild the Dream (2012). He was the main advocate for the Green Jobs Act. In 2009, Jones worked as the green jobs advisor to President Barack Obama. In addition, Van is founder of Dream Corps, Rebuild The Dream, Green For All, the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights and Color of Change.
