Erich Schuett and Olivia Hadad, who appeared in the musical "Zombie Prom" at the Vineyard Theatre in NYC, have now made their first recording together--Chip Deffaa's "A Stage-Door Kind of Love," being released March 30th. The recording, which will be available Saturday from CDBaby, iTunes, Amazon, etc., may be pre-ordered here: https://store.cdbaby.com/cd/erichschuett1.

Written, arranged, and produced by ASCAP Award-winner Chip Deffaa, the musical sketch "A Stage-Door Kind of Love," presents--through music and words--the relationship of two teens who've grown close together at summer theater-camp. Deffaa notes: "It's inspired by Stagedoor Manor, which is, along with French Woods, one of the two best theater camps in the world.

Olivia Hadad has actually attended the camp--as have assorted pros who've been in plays I've written and directed, or on recordings I've produced. A lot of talented people I know--from singer/actor Beau Cassidy to one of my own nieces--have attended Stagedoor Manor. I've often enjoyed shows there, and friends of mine who've gone there--Alec Deland and Gabriella Green--helped inspire the piece, which I've tailored especially for Erich and Olivia. They're wonderfully talented."

On Saturday--the recording's launch date--Schuett will be hosting and performing at "The Kid Kat Cabaret" (also featuring Meghan Jenkins) at The Duplex Cabaret Theater in Greenwich Village. Schuett, who records regularly with Deffaa and was recently heard on Deffaa's album "An Irving Berlin Travelogue," was featured in the national tour of Rodgers & Hammerstein's "The Sound Music." His motion picture credits include "18 to Party," "Evil Intentions," "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles," and "Dolphin Tale 2." His TV credits include "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," " A Crime to Remember," "Homicide for the Holidays," "Shattered," "Clarissa's World," and "Outdoor Wild." He's sung popular music at the West End Café and classical music at Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House. He's sung, too, on Harry Connick's television show, "Harry."

Olivia Hadad, who recently appeared with Schuett in the NextGen Theatre Company's production of "Zombie Prom" at the Vineyard Theater in New York, has also appeared in productions of such musicals as "Bye Bye Birdie" and "Heathers." Deffaa notes: "Magnus Tonning Riise cast both Hadad and Schuett in 'Zombie Prom,' and I got a kick out of their comic timing and rapport, as well as their vocal gifts. I look forward to recording more of them together. And to seeing them perform 'A Stage-Door Kind of Love,' live, as opportunities provide. I love the way they handle that special material."

Deffaa is the author of 16 published plays and eight published books, and the producer of 26 albums. For 18 years he covered entertainment, including music and theater, for The New York Post. In his youth, he studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He is a graduate of Princeton University and a trustee of the Princeton "Tiger" magazine. He wrote and directed such Off-Broadway successes as "George M. Cohan Tonight!" and "One Night with Fanny Brice." His shows have been performed everywhere from London to Edinburgh, to Seoul. He is a longtime stakeholder at the 13th Street Theater, his base in NYC. Deffaa is a member of the Dramatists Guild, the Stage Directors & Choreographers Society, NARAS, and ASCAP. He's won the ASCAP/Deems Taylor Award, the IRNE Award, and a New Jersey Press Association Award.

The music director on "A Stage-Door Kind of Love" is Richard Danley, who's been Deffaa's music-director of choice for a dozen years. Slau Halatyn. who has recorded most of Deffaa's 26 albums, handled recording, mixing, and mastering. Steve Garrin is Associate Producer. A companion piece, "A French Woods Kind of Love," will be released in two weeks.
