ESPN Opens Second Half of MLB Season with Nine Prime-Time Games

ESPN will televise nine prime-time, marquee matchups in eleven nights to start the second half of the 2016 Major League Baseball season. The games will also be available on WatchESPN.

The slate begins with SUNDAY NIGHT BASEBALL presented by Taco Bell on July 17, as the Boston Red Sox visit the New York Yankees at 8 p.m. ET. The New York Mets then face the current National League Central-leading Chicago Cubs three games in a row at Wrigley Field. First on Monday Night Baseball presented by USAA on July 18 at 7 p.m. ET. - which will blacked out in Chicago - and again July19 at 7 p.m. - blacked out in Chicago and New York markets.

On July 20, the Cubs and Mets will play the third game of their series on ESPN as the first matchup of a Wednesday Night Baseball presented by Hankook Tire doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. The telecast will be blacked out in Chicago and New York markets. The NL West-leading San Francisco Giants will travel to Fenway Park to play the Boston Red Sox in the nightcap beginning at 7 p.m. which be blacked out in the San Francisco market.

The night's second matchup will be a part of ESPN's Global Game series, which celebrates cultural influences on the game of baseball. The focus will be on the Dominican Republic and will include special production features throughout the telecast.

The second week of action will include four additional matchups with the Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals leading off on SUNDAY NIGHT BASEBALL presented by Taco Bell on July 24 at 8 p.m. The Detroit Tigers and the Boston Red Sox meet on Monday Night Baseball at 7 p.m. in a full national telecast.

The schedule continues with an intercity showdown as the Chicago Cubs play the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday, July 26, at 7 p.m. (full national telecast). The two clubs meet again July 27 on Wednesday Night Baseball when the series shifts to Wrigley Field. The telecast will be blacked out in the Chicago market.
