Disney Channel isn't doubting the potential popularity of its upcoming BOY MEETS WORLD sequel.

News broke today that Disney has ordered additional episode GIRL MEETS WORLD, a follow-up to the popular 1990's sitcom. Original show stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel reprise their roles as Cory and Topanga Matthews, now parents of a young daughter, Riley.

Fishel confirmed the order today on Twitter, posting: "Got the great news tonight that #GirlMeetsWorld was picked up for 8 more episodes - a total of 21! Can't wait for everyone to see them all."

GIRL MEETS WORLD will follow Riley, picking up over a decade after the show concluded its run on ABC in 2000. Production on the pilot began this spring ,with the series scheduled for the 2013-2014 season.

The multicam sitcom is from It's A Laugh Productions and "Boy Meets World" creators Michael Jacobs and April Kelly, who also serve as executive producers of the new series.
