Cory & Topanga's Daughter Cast in GIRL MEETS WORLD

Entertainment Weekly has announced that Cory and Toganga's daughter has been cast in the upcoming BOY MEETS WORLD prequel series, GIRL MEETS WORLD.

The role has gone to 11-year old Rowan Blanchard, who has previously starred in SPY KIDS: ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD 4D and THE BACK-UP PLAN. The young actress was discovered after an extensive nationwide search for 'Riley Matthews.'

"As soon as Rowan walked into the room, I was reminded of why Ben Savage was loved as Cory Matthews," Michael Jacobs, producer of the GIRL MEETS WORLD pilot, told the site. "Rowan is real and accessible and I am hopeful this girl is about to meet a world that will love growing up with her as well."

GIRL MEETS WORLD will follow Riley, the teenage daughter of Cory and Topanga, picking up over a decade after the show concluded its run on ABC in 2000. At this time, no other stars from the original series are set to return, though both Ryder Strong and Trina McGee have expressed interest.

Production on the pilot is expected to begin next month, and should GIRL MEETS WORLD be picked up to series by the Disney Channel, it's expected that the prequel series would land on the 2013-2014 season.
