Chiwetel Ejiofor Top Choice for Villain in Next James Bond Film

According to Variety, 12 YEARS A SLAVE breakout star Chiwetel Ejiofor is MGM's 'top choice' to play the villain in the next installment in the James Bond franchise.

Sources have confirmed that the studio is heavily courting the Oscar-nominee, though no deal has been offered, and scheduling issues must be worked out.

The new feature length Bond film, starring Daniel Craig, is set to be released in theaters on November 6, 2015. Skyfall director Sam Mendes and screenwriter John Logan will return. Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are producing.

Filming is expected to begin this summer.

Skyfall took in $1.1 billion worldwide. It was also the best-selling Bond film on DVD/Blu-ray. In Skyfall Bond's loyalty to M (Judi Dench) is tested as her past returns to haunt her. With MI6 now compromised from both inside and out, M is left with one ally she can trust: Bond. 007 takes to The Shadows - aided only by field agent, Eve (Naomie Harris) - following a trail to the mysterious Silva (Javier Bardem), whose lethal and hidden motives have yet to reveal themselves.
