Champions Ashley Wagner & Karen Chen Headline NBC Sports' Coverage of SKATE CANADA This Weekend

This weekend, NBC Sports Group presents 14.5 hours of coverage of Skate Canada from Saskatchewan, the second event in the 2017 International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of FIGURE SKATING Series. Headlining the field are 2016 world silver medalist and three-time U.S. champion Ashley Wagner and 2017 U.S. Champion Karen Chen. Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA will present 13 hours of live coverage of the event.

Live coverage begins this Friday, October 27, at 3 p.m. ET, with the short programs on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA, followed on Saturday, October 28, by live coverage of the free programs starting at 1 p.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA. NBCSN will present coverage this Sunday, October 29, at 11:30 p.m. ET, and NBC will present encore coverage on Sunday, November 5, at 3:30 p.m. ET.

The women's field features fierce competition highlighted by Wagner and 2017 world silver medalist Kaetlyn Osmond of Canada, along with Chen, who won her first U.S. title and finished fourth at the World Championships last season. Japanese teenager Shoma Uno, who finished second at the 2017 World Championships and recently posted the fourth-highest total score ever at Lombardia Trophy, and 2014 Olympic silver medalist and three-time world champion Patrick Chan of Canada highlight the men's competition. 2014 Olympian Jason Brown will represent the American effort.

In the pairs' competition, two-time world champions Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford of Canada face off against Germany's two-time world medalists Aliona Savchenko and Bruno Massot. Canadians Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, the reigning world champions and three-time Olympic medalists, lead the ice dance field.

Andrea Joyce calls the action on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA, alongside 2011 U.S. FIGURE SKATING champion Ryan Bradley. Joyce will be joined by 2006 Olympic ice dance silver medalist Ben Agosto for the ice dance competitions.

Terry Gannon handles play-by-play on NBC and NBCSN, joined by 1998 Olympic gold medalist Tara Lipinski and three-time U.S. champion Johnny Weir.

The Grand Prix Series, now in its 23rd season, consists of six international events in a cumulative point-scoring format. Approximately 300 athletes from 25 countries are expected to participate in the series. Each athlete is eligible to score points in up to two of the six scheduled events. The top six point-earners in each discipline qualify for the 2017 ISU Grand Prix of FIGURE SKATING Final, set for Dec. 7-10, in Nagoya, Japan.
