For 2nd quarter 2016, CBS THIS MORNING posted its best total viewer and key demo ratings since the show launched, delivering the network's highest 2nd quarter viewership in the time period in at least 28 years (since the advent of Nielsen people meters) and its best adult 25-54 rating in 7 years (since 2009).
In the 2nd quarter,
CBS THIS MORNING grew by +6% in viewers (3.69m from 3.50m), +13% in adults 25-54 (0.9 from 0.8), +11% in women 25-54 (1.0 from 0.9) and +17% in women 18-49 (0.7 from 0.6) compared to 2nd Quarter 2015 according to Nielsen most current ratings.
CBS THIS MORNING added +190,000 viewers compared to last 2nd quarter.
ABC and
NBC both suffered declines.
ABC is down -7% in viewers, -13% in adults 25-54, -15% in women 25-54 and -14% in women 18-49 in 2nd quarter 2016 compared to last year, while
NBC is down -1% in viewers, -5% in women 25-54 and -7% in women 18-49.
CBS THIS MORNING closed the viewership gap with
NBC by over a quarter of a million (260,000) viewers in 2nd Quarter 2016 compared to last year. This marks the closest
CBS has been to
NBC in viewers and adult 25-54 rating in a 2nd quarter in at least 28 years, since the advent of people meters, and the closest to
NBC in women 25-54 rating in a 2nd quarter in 26 years.
CBS THIS MORNING closed the viewership gap with
ABC by over half a million (530,000) viewers in 2nd quarter 2016 compared to last year. This marks the closest
CBS has been to
ABC in viewers in a 2nd quarter in 18 years and the closest to
ABC in adult 25-54 rating in a 2nd quarter in at least 28 years, since the advent of people meters.
For the week ending June 24,
CBS THIS MORNING was the only network morning news program to post year-to-year gains among viewers, while
ABC and
NBC declined, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings.
CBS THIS MORNING is up +10% in viewers (3.45m from 3.14m), +14% in adults 25-54 (0.8 from 0.7), +25% in women (1.0 from 0.8) and +20% in women 18-49 (0.6 from 0.5) compared to a year ago. For the week ending June 24,
ABC was down -6%, in viewers, -14% in adults 25-54 and -6% in women 25-54 compared to the same week last year.
NBC was down -4% in viewers, -7% in adults 25-54, -11% women 25-54 and -14% women 18-49 compared to the same week last year.
During the week of June 20,
CBS THIS MORNING aired portions of Charlie Rose's interview with Joe Biden, and Norah O'Donnell interviewed Donald Trump.
CBS THIS MORNING has delivered year-over-year audience growth for 45 consecutive months while
ABC has declined 26 consecutive months and
NBC has declined 25 consecutive months.
ABC has not experienced year-over-year monthly gains since April 2014, and
NBC has not posted gains since May 2014.
