CBS Sweeps Penultimate Week of Television Year

CBS swept the next to final week of the television year in viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54, with five of the top 10 programs in viewers and seven of the top 10 in adults 18-49, led by the premiere of CBS and NFL Network's THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Sept.14.
CBS and the NFL Network's debut of THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL ranked second for the week in both viewers and adults 18-49. Both the PRE-KICK and KICK-OFF also ranked among the top 10 in both viewers and adults 18-49. All three editions of BIG BROTHER ranked among the week's top 10 in adults 18-49. The premiere of CBS and NFL Network's THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL delivered the Network's largest primetime Thursday audience since Nov. 8, 2007 (SURVIVOR, CSI/WITHOUT A TRACE crossover episodes). Among key demographics, CBS had its highest Thursday primetime ratings in adults 18-49 since March 9, 2006 (SURVIVOR, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, WITHOUT A TRACE) and its highest ratings in adults 25-54 since May 18, 2006 (CSI (R) (S), CSI, WITHOUT A TRACE). CBS Broadcasts in the Top 10 (Viewers) #2 CBS AND NFLN THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL (P): Pittsburgh/Baltimore (20.77m) #4 CBS+NFLN THURSDAY NIGHT NFL PRE-KICK (P) (13.86m)BIG BROTHER BIG BROTHER TUESDAY SPECIAL (S) was first in viewers (6.76m), adults 25-54 (2.7/08), adults 18-49 (2.3/08) and adults 18-34 (1.6/07). BIG BROTHER beat the Tuesday time period premiere of "Utopia" by +156% in adults 18-49 (vs. 0.9/03), +145% in adults 25-54 (vs. 1.1/03), +129% in adults 18-34 (vs. 0.7/03) and by +4.28m viewers (vs. 2.48m, +58%).
BIG BROTHER WEDNESDAY was first in viewers (6.99m), adults 25-54 (2.8/08), adults 18-49 (2.4/08) and adults 18-34 (1.7/07), up +4% in both adults 25-54 (from 2.7/08) and adults 18-49 (from 2.3/09), up +21% in adults 18-34 (from 1.4/06) and adding +440,000 viewers (from 6.55m, +7%) from the prior week. BIG BROTHER posted its best Wednesday delivery in viewers and matched its best adults 18-34 delivery for any night.
BIG BROTHER SUNDAY (8:52-9:51 PM) was second in viewers (7.41m), adults 25-54 (3.0/07), adults 18-49 (2.5/07), and adults 18-34 (1.7/06). BIG BROTHER posted the summer's best delivery on any night in viewers and adults 25-54, matched season best adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 ratings.
UNDER THE DOME UNDER THE DOME was first in viewers (6.63m) and was second in adults 25-54 (1.9/05) and adults 18-49 (1.4/04). Compared to last week, UNDER THE DOME was up +6% in adults 25-54 (from 1.8/05), +17% in adults 18-49 (from 1.2/04) and added +340,000 viewers (from 6.29m, +5%). It was the week's top broadcast drama in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.
UNFORGETTABLE The first half of the two-hour season finale of UNFORGETTABLE (6.45m viewers, 9:51-10:51 PM) was up +7% in adults 25-54 (1.6/04 from 1.5/04) and even in adults 18-49 (1.1/03) compared to last week. UNFORGETTABLE SPECIAL (S) (10:51-11:51 PM) delivered a 3.9/08 with 5.78m viewers, 1.4/05 in adults 25-54 and 1.0/04 in adults 18-49.
