CBS EVENING NEWS Posts Largest Year-to-Year Increase in Viewers Among Network Broadcasts

The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY posted the largest year-to-year increase in viewers (+4%, 7.57m from 7.25m) among the network evening news broadcasts for the week ending Nov. 6, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings.
The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY added +320,000 viewers compared to the same week last year. The CBS broadcast closed the viewership gap with NBC by three-quarters of a million viewers (750,000) and with ABC by 290,000 viewers. Season-to-date, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY posted the biggest audience gains among the network evening news broadcasts. The CBS broadcast is up +6% in viewers (7.01 from 6.60m) and even in adults 25-54 (1.3/06) - the demographic most important to those who advertise in news - compared to last season. On last week's broadcasts, Scott Pelley previewed his 60 MINUTES investigation that exposed flaws in the government security clearance system; astronaut Scott Kelly spoke with Jim Axelrod about life aboard the International Space Station; Dean Reynolds explained how investigators UNRAVELED an Illinois cop's suicide plot; David Martin, Jeff Pegues, Allen Pizzey and Mark Morrell provided coverage and analysis of the Russian plane crash; and Nancy Cordes spoke with Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson about accusations that he lied about his past.Videos
