CBS has cancelled CSI: CYBER, starring Patricia Arquette, marking the end of the long-running franchise, according to Deadline.

Though the series performed consisently in the ratings, "starting its second season with 6.79 million viewers and a 1.0 demo rating in Live+Same Day and ending with 6.32 million a 1.0 rating," per the report. However, the numbers were never quite high enough for CBS, which regularly wins week nights with its series THE BIG BANG THEORY and others.

The flagship series of the franchise, CSI, first debuted on the network in 2000, where it ran through 2015 - the same year 'CYBER' premiered. Two other spin-offs came before the latest entry: CSI: MIAMI and CSI: NY.

About CSI: CYBER:

CSI: CYBER stars Academy Award, Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award winner Patricia Arquette in a drama inspired by the advanced technological work of real-life Cyber Psychologist Mary Aiken. Special Agent Avery Ryan heads the Cyber Crime Division of the FBI, a unit at the forefront of solving illegal activities that start in the mind, live online, and play out in the real world. She knows firsthand how today's technology allows people to hide in the shadows of the Internet and commit serious crimes of global proportion. Working with Ryan is the new Director of Next Generation Forensics, D.B. Russell, a civilian specialist who has transferred from Las Vegas to combine his vast knowledge of traditional forensics with cutting-edge advancements to help hunt down the most dangerous cyber criminals. Also on the team are FBI Agent Elijah Mundo, a forensic expert who is ex-military, a self-proclaimed action junkie and Avery's confidant; Daniel Krumitz, an introverted tech genius with a quick wit; Brody Nelson, a former black hat hacker who chose to work for the FBI over a life of cyber-crime; and Raven Ramirez, a tech who is an expert in social media, cyber trends and international relations. While other agents search for criminals in dark homes and alleys, Ryan and her team search the "dark net," a place deep in the bowels of the Web where criminals are anonymous, money is untraceable and where everything is for sale with just a keystroke.
