Ben Stiller to Direct Childress' THE MOUNTAIN for Fox

As first reported on Deadline.com, 20th Century Fox has acquired a spec script of Helen Childress' THE MOUNTAIN. According to the report, actor Ben Stiller will develop and direct the film. Stiller, along with his Red Hour partner Stuart Cornfeld, will also produce. This is not the first time that Stiller has collaborated with Childress. The two also wrote the 1994 comedy "Reality Bites".

Their current project will be a horror tale based on characters from Edith Wharton's Summer. It will be set in the early 1900s and center on a young woman who is forced to confront her past after she stumbles upon a mysterious object which holds many secrets. Stiller and Childress are also collaborating on an adaptation of the children's book The Snowy Day under his deal with Fox Studios. In addition, the busy actor is working on a remake of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty at Fox that he'll direct and star in. He's is also currently filming the Akiva Schaffer-directed comedy Neighborhood Watch with Jonah Hill and Vince Vaughn for Fox.
