Last night, Barbara Walters, 83, reportedly fell walking up stairs, cutting her forehead. Walters was visiting the British Prime Minister's home at the time of the fall. According to ABC, the famed journalist was taken to the hospital.

The network released The Following statement today on Walters' condition:

"Out of an abundance of caution, she went to the hospital to have her cut tended to, have a full examination and remains there for observation. Barbara is alert (and telling everyone what to do), which we all take as a very positive sign," said Jeffrey W. Schneider, senior vice president of ABC News.

Walters currently co-hosts THE VIEW, as well as ABC's 20/20. She also frequently contributes to many of the ABC NEWS programs.
