BOXEO TELEMUNDO FORD Kicks Off Season with Fight for WBO Latin Superfly Title

NBC Deportes presents the Spring Season of BOXEO Telemundo FORD a total of four fights beginning with the battle for the WBO's Latin Superfly title belt between Mexico's Ricardo "Meserito" Rodríguez and Miguel "No Fear" Cartagena of the United States this Friday, February 26 at 11:35PM/10:35C at the Palm Bay Center in Palm Bay, Florida. Narrating the action live from the arena will be René Giraldo and Edgar López, the veteran sportscasters who have made "Boxeo Telemundo Ford" such a success. Friday's match and all other featured fights this season will also be available live in their entirety on NBCDeportes.com digital platforms.

A familiar protagonist of "Boxeo Telemundo Ford," Ricardo "Meserito" Rodríguez (12-3, 4 KO) will take the ring for the first time in 2016. "Meserito" had a mixed record last year: After winning two titles - as the WBC's Interim Latin Bantamweight champion on March 13, and the WBO's Interim Latin Super Flyweight title on July 31 - he took his first-ever trip to the canvas at the hands of David "Severo" Carmona, who won by decision in the tenth round after a ferocious battle.

This will be also be the year's first fight for Miguel "No Fear" Cartagena (14-2, 5 KO), who fought only once in 2015, a July 4 victory over Mexico's Javier "El Chivero" Franco for the IBO's International Super Bantamweight title in the tenth round by referee's decision.

The "Boxeo Telemundo Ford" Spring Season includes three more exciting nights of boxing. On Friday, March 4, the NABO Super Featherweight title will be up for grabs between Puerto Rico's Orlando "El Fenómeno" Cruz and Mexico's Rómulo Koasicha. Two more fights are yet to be confirmed on March 11 and 18, always at the same time: 11:35PM/10:35C on Telemundo.
