Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl Hits Highest Ratings Ever This Year

Animal Planet's PUPPY BOWL XIV was the highest rated PUPPY BOWL ever with a 1.46 rating on Sunday, Feb. 4 from 3-5PM/ET (12-2PM/PT) among Adults 25-54 in L+SD, up a whopping +32% from last year's game (1.11). PUPPY BOWL XIV beat 2014's PUPPY BOWL X, formerly the highest rated PUPPY BOWL, by double digits (+17%) among Adults 25-54 (1.24). PUPPY BOWL XIV averaged more than three million Total Viewers P2+ (3.05) from 3-5PM/ET (12-2PM/PT) and was up 24% vs. PUPPY BOWL XIII on Feb. 5, 2017 (2.5M).

Other key PUPPY BOWL XIV demos that were the highest-rated ever for the event and up double digits vs. PUPPY BOWL XIII included Men 25-54 (up +39%), Women 25-54 (up +26%), Adults 18-49 (up +22%), Men 18-49 (up +33%) and Women 18-49 (up +15%). PUPPY BOWL XIV is Animal Planet's third highest rated telecast of all time among Adults 25-54.

PUPPY BOWL XIV conversation earned trending topics on Twitter and Facebook, with mentions from celebrities that included Allison Janney, Mark Hamill, Billy Eichner, Audra MacDonald and Grace Helbig, as well as Major League Baseball. Dictionary.com got in on the #PuppyBowl action on Twitter by defining "cute aggression" as "The weird urge to squeeze all the puppies in the @AnimalPlanet #PuppyBowlXIV".

The eight-minute preview of the Irwin Family Return to Animal Planet aired from 5:02-5:10PM/ET (2:02-2:10PM/PT) and had 2.26 million Total Viewers P2+ with a 1.09 rating among Adults 25-54. Animal Planet's exclusive preview episode of THE ZOO season two from 5:10-6:10PM/ET (2:10-3:10PM/PT) averaged 1.38 million Total Viewers P2+ and earned a 0.56 rating among Adults 25-54.
