LIVE With Kelly and Ryan Sets a New Guinness World Records Title

On this morning's "Live with Kelly and Ryan," Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest took a fun and simple Science experiment to new lengths, setting a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the Largest Elephant's Toothpaste Fountain.

The hosts enlisted the help of "Science Bob" Pflugfelder, a teacher and author who regularly appears on the show, for the demonstration. "Elephant's Toothpaste" is a chemical reaction that produces foam, creating the image of toothpaste being squeezed from a tube. On today's show, two buckets of sodium iodide were poured into 40 liters of hydrogen peroxide, causing thousands of gallons of oozing foam to cascade over the floor of the "Live" studio. The fountain officially measured in at 13.07 cubic meters, smashing the minimum requirement of 5 cubic meters.

"Live" has a long history of breaking records on the air, and its relationship with GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS spans nearly two decades. Over the years, more than two dozen GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS have been set or broken on the show.

"Live with Kelly and Ryan" is distributed in national Syndication by Disney | ABC Home Entertainment and TV Distribution. The show is produced by WABC-TV in New York and executive produced by Michael Gelman, Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest.
