ABC's BACHELORETTE: After the Final Rose” Ranks as Monday's No. 1 TV Show

During the week of July 28, 2014, ABC's "The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose" (No. 5/No. 6) and the season finale of "The Bachelorette" (No. 7/No. 8) each placed among the Top 10 TV programs in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, respectively. In addition, the two ABC shows stood as the week's Top 2 telecasts overall in Women 18-49. "20/20" was the No. 1 newsmagazine for the 4th week in a row in Adults 18-49 (tie).

ABC's delivery jumped week to week by 15% in Total Viewers and by 22% in Adults 18-49, marking 7-week highs (since w/o 6/9/14) and the Net's strongest non-NBA week this summer. The Net was up the most among the broadcasters.

Up over the year-ago week in Total Viewers (+13% - 4.5 million vs. 4.0 million) and Adults 18-49 (+10% - 1.1/4 vs. 1.0/3), ABC marked its 6th straight week of year-to-year Total Viewer gains. In fact, it was the only major net to post growth on either measure.

Monday
ABC took first place on Monday night, beating its nearest competition by 2.8 million viewers (8.1 million vs. 5.3 million - NBC) and by 17% in Adults 18-49 (2.1/7 vs. 1.8/6 - FOX and NBC tied). In fact, ABC was the most-watched network in all 6 half-hours of primetime. ABC's "The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose" and "The Bachelorette" season finale finished as Monday's Top 2 most-watched TV shows, respectively. In addition, "After the Final Rose" ranked as Monday's No. 1 show in Adults 18-49 (tie).

In viewers and young adults, the Network marked its strongest Monday numbers this summer with a 10-week high on the evening - since 5/19/14.

"The Bachelorette" (8:00-10:03 p.m. - 8.0 million and 2.0/7 in AD18-49):
From 8:00-10:03 p.m., "The Bachelorette" won its 2-hour time period among Total Viewers (8.0 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.0/7), peaking with 8.7 million viewers and a 2.1/7 in Adults 18-49 during its final half-hour from 9:30-10:00 p.m. The ABC unscripted series finished No. 1 in its slot for its 9th consecutive 2-hour Monday telecast in viewers.

Building for the 2nd week in a row in Total Viewers (+13%) and Adults 18-49 (+11%), "The Bachelorette" closed out with its most-watched telecast this season and matched a season-best in young adults.

"The Bachelorette" finale was Monday's No. 1 most-social broadcast, shooting up 405% week to week with a season-best 352,393 tweets. "The Bachelorette" was also up 2% over last year's finale in tweets.

"The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose" (10:03-11:00 p.m. - 8.2 million and 2.1/7 in AD18-49):
Building on its lead-in during the 10:00 p.m. hour, ABC's "The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose" ranked No. 1 in its time slot, beating CBS' "Under the Dome" by 24% in Total Viewers (8.2 million vs. 6.6 million) and matching the final hour of NBC's 2-hour "American Ninja Warrior" in Adults 18-49 (2.1/7).

"After the Final Rose" generated ABC's best summertime delivery in the time period in nearly 1 year with viewers and young adults - since 8/5/13.

Tuesday
"Extreme Weight Loss" (8:00-10:00 p.m. - 3.8 million and 1.1/4 in AD18-49):
From 8:00-10:00 p.m., ABC's "Extreme Weight Loss" gained 10% week to week in Adults 18-49 (1.1/4 vs. 1.0/3), equaling an 8-week high - since 6/3/14. In addition, "Extreme Weight Loss" increased its overall audience from the same night last year (+6% - 3.8 million vs. 3.6 million on 7/30/13).

"Celebrity Wife Swap" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 3.1 million and 1.1/3 in AD18-49):
During the 10:00 p.m. hour, ABC's season finale of "Celebrity Wife Swap" spiked 22% week to week in Adults 18-49 (1.1/3 vs. 0.9/3), matching a 5-week high - since 6/24/14. The show was up over its year-ago finale by 7% in Total Viewers and held steady in Adults 18-49 (2.9 million and 1.1/4 on 7/28/13).

Wednesday
"Motive" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 3.7 million and 0.7/2 in AD18-49):
ABC's "Motive" was up week to week in Total Viewers (+2% - 3.7 million vs. 3.6 million) and by double-digits in Adults 18-49 (+17% - 0.7/2 vs. 0.6/2) and Adults 25-54 (+11% - 1.0/3 vs. 0.9/3).

Thursday
ABC (4.4 million) was the 2nd-most-watched network on Thursday to CBS, leading NBC by 1.3 million viewers (3.1 million) and FOX by 2.4 million viewers (2.0 million).

"The Quest" (8:00-9:00 p.m. - 2.8 million and 0.7/3 in AD18-49):
At 8:00 p.m., the series debut of "The Quest" tied ABC's highest non-sports Adults 18-49 rating in The Hour this summer (0.7/3).

"Rookie Blue" (9:00-10:00 p.m. - 4.8 million and 1.0/3 in AD18-49):
Returning after the prior week's preemption, ABC's "Rookie Blue" (4.8 million) built on its lead-in at 9:00 p.m. to take a strong second in The Hour to CBS' "Big Brother" in Total Viewers, outdrawing Fox's "Gang Related" (2.3 million) by 2.5 million viewers and NBC's comedies ("Welcome to Sweden"/"Working the Engles" = 2.2 million) by 2.6 million viewers. In addition, "Rookie Blue" beat out its drama competition on FOX in The Hour ("Gang Related") by a best-yet 29% in Adults 18-49 (1.0/3 vs. 0.7/2). The ABC drama was up over its most recent telecast by 11% in Adults 18-49 to deliver a best-since premiere number - since 6/19/14.

"NY Med" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 5.6 million and 1.0/3 in AD18-49):
Building on its lead-in at 10:00 p.m., ABC's "NY Med" was the most-watched TV show in the time period for the 6th consecutive week (5.6 million), topping its summer competition on NBC by 2.3 million viewers ("Last Comic Standing" = 3.3 million).

"NY Med" held even with the prior week in Adults 18-49 (1.0/3) and grew 8% in Adults 25-54 (1.4/4 vs. 1.3/4) to match season highs. In addition, "NY Med" was up 11% week to week in Total Viewers (5.6 million vs. 5.2 million), drawing its biggest audience since its season premiere 5 weeks ago - since 6/26/14.

Friday
"What Would You Do?" (9:00-10:00 p.m. - 3.7 million and 1.1/4 in AD18-49):
ABC's "What Would You Do?" grew for the 2nd straight week in Adults 18-49 (+10%) to a 5-week high - since 6/27/14. "WWYD?" shot up by 12% in Total Viewers and by 22% in Adults 18-49 over original programming in The Hour on the year-ago night ("Would You Fall for That?" on 8/2/13 = 3.3 million and 0.9/3).

"20/20" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 4.8 million and 1.2/5 in AD18-49):
ABC's "20/20" was up week to week in Adults 18-49 (+9%). The ABC newsmagazine was up over its year-ago telecast (4.0 million and 1.1/4 on 8/2/13) for the 4th consecutive week in Total Viewers (+20%) and Adults 18-49 (+9%).

Saturday
"20/20-Saturday SP" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 4.9 million and 0.8/3 in AD18-49):
After a 2-month hiatus, ABC's "20/20-Saturday" returned to deliver 20-week highs in the 10 o'clock hour in Total Viewers (4.9 million), Adults 18-49 (0.8/3) and Adults 25-54 (1.3/4) - since 3/15/14. In fact, the 10 o'clock broadcast marked the ABC newsmagazine's 2nd-most-watched telecast ever. "20/20-Saturday" scored enormous double-digit gains over the year-ago night (on 8/3/13), up by 69% in Viewers, 60% in Adults 18-49 and 63% in Adults 25-54.

Sunday
"Wipeout" (8:00-9:00 p.m. - 3.8 million and 1.0/3 in AD18-49):
From 8:00-9:00 p.m., ABC's "Wipeout" was up week to week in Adults 18-49 (+25% - 1.0/3 vs. 0.8/3).

"Rising Star" (9:00-11:00 p.m. - 3.7 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):
From 9:00-11:00 p.m., opposite increased competition from NBC's NFL Hall of Fame Game, ABC's "Rising Star" increased week to week in Adults 18-34 (+14%), Men 18-34 (+40%) and Teens 12-17 (+17%), while holding steady in Adults 18-49 (0.9/3).
