ABC Family Names Nigel Cox-Hagan as SVP, Marketing, Creative & Branding

Nigel Cox-Hagan has been named Senior Vice President, Marketing, Creative and Branding, ABC Family. It was announced today by Tom Ascheim, President ABC Family, to whom he will report. An award-winning marketing executive and accomplished brand builder, Cox-Hagan joins the network with extensive experience revitalizing brands and launching franchises.

In his new position, Nigel will lead the creative marketing vision for the network. He will be responsible for the strategic execution of all marketing activities across multiple platforms and oversee all on-air and off-air marketing in addition to integrated marketing, audience development, franchise and brand management, and promotional partnerships. He will also manage marketing operation functions.

Ascheim said, "Nigel is an accomplished brand builder who consistently develops ground-breaking creative and sticky campaigns. Cox-Hagan joins other recently announced executives at ABC Family, including Salaam Coleman Smith, Executive Vice President, Strategy and Programming and Karey Burke, Executive Vice President, Programming and Development.

Most recently, Cox-Hagan served as Executive Vice President, Creative and Consumer for VH1 Networks where he was responsible for branding, promotion, design, consumer and social media marketing for VH1's family of brands and franchises. During his stint, the network underwent a massive evolution, and Nigel played a significant role in that transformation, guiding the branding and marketing of VH1 through its "Celebreality" phase to its most recent "VH+1" incarnation. He also oversaw the rebrands of sub networks VH1 Classic and VH1 Soul. Additionally, Nigel also took on branding and launch projects for MTV Networks, serving as Creative Director for Logo, Palladia and Centric.

Prior to his work at VH1 Networks, Cox-Hagan was Director of On-Air Promotion and Graphic Design at G4 where he supervised the branding, network design, promotion, integrated creative and packaging for the first slate of programming of the network for gamers. He also did a series of branding projects for Nickelodeon, BET, Syfy and the entertainment/video game HUB UGO.
Cox-Hagan began his career in 1991 in the on-air promo department of MTV where he rose to become the Senior Promo Producer and Creative Director until he left in 1998. During his stint at the youth network, Nigel wrote, directed and produced branding and promotional campaigns for the brand and its major franchises. Rising to the position of Senior Producer, he led the team that oversaw the initial launch of MTV2, staying on to head the networks creative department.
Additionally, Nigel served as Creative Director on the branding and launch of MTV/VH1's "Digital Suite," a set of digital cable sub-brands. He also directed a music video for the legendary Hip Hop group Brand Nubian.

Nigel graduated from Hampshire College in 1986 with a B.A. in Film Studies and began his career as a production assistant on commercials and feature films.
