Internationally acclaimed celebrity chef, Susur Lee of "Lee" & "Bent" restaurants in Toronto, Canada will serve as a guest chef at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe this winter. Chef Lee will prepare a four-course, prix fixe menu for up to 150 dining guests at Manzanita, the resort's signature Lake Tahoe restaurant on Thursday, January 9, 2014 with reservations available from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The special one-night-only dinner will feature a "Game Dinner" menu created and prepared by Chef Lee himself.
"It's an honor to have a chef of Susur Lee's caliber to The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe to prepare a special dinner presentation for our guests visiting Manzanita," said Joseph Mattioli, general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe. "It speaks volumes to the attractiveness of the resort and the region that a celebrity chef with his experience would choose to visit and provide such a rare experience to our dining guests."
Chef Lee began his career at the age of 16 as an apprentice at the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong. After moving to Toronto, Canada he opened "Lotus" in 1987 and experienced tremendous culinary success for the next decade. He returned to Asia after that, consulting for the Tung Lok Group's 45 restaurants. Upon his return to Toronto in 2000, he opened "Susur," inspiring accolades from publications including Food & Wine and Gourmet magazines, followed by the opening of "Lee" in 2004. In recent years, Chef Lee has served as the executive chef at "Shang" in New York, and the Consulting Chef at "Zentan" in Washington, D.C. He has also been a featured chef on both Iron Chef America and Top Chef Masters.
"The raw natural beauty of Lake Tahoe, and the rustic elegance of the dining room at Manzanita will be the perfect backdrop for my Game Dinner," said Chef Lee.
Dinner reservations for this special one-night-only guest chef dinner featuring Susur Lee can be made by calling the reservationists at Manzanita at 530-562-3053. The cost is $110 per person, or $150 per person with wine pairings. While the exact menu is still to be determined by Chef Lee, possible dishes may include coffee marinated ostrich with mustard apricot glaze and roasted venison loin, winter black truffle sauce and braised onion yuzu tart.
