New York--2017 Tony winner "Dear Evan Hansen" (DEH) knows how to engage with its massive fan base, especially on Facebook (FB). Take for instance its latest video upload, which showcases thespians and DEH fans Gimbey Dela Cruz and Poppert Bernadas singing a heartwarming duet: a cover version of "Only Us" from the popular Broadway musical. This cover version, which was originally uploaded on YouTube last May 2017, is currently enjoying more than 34,000 views and 1,100 reactions on FB.

Gimbey, on FB Messenger, said, "Since I'm a musical theater geek, I saw the video of Ben Platt and Laura Dreyfuss when it first came out. DEH was just starting on Broadway and hasn't won a Tony yet, but I just couldn't get the song out of my head. I said I have to do this, have to record this. The problem was who to sing it with."

Gimbey ended up recording the ditty with Poppert, a former contestant on "The Voice" in the Philippines and longtime vocalist of the vocal group Ryan Cayabyab Singers. He is also a co-star of Gimbey in the hit musical "Rak of Aegis," produced by the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA), which is slated to return to the Philippine stage next year.

Gimbey, on the other hand, is the founder of ProD'G Arts International, which offers private voice lessons and musical theater workshops guided by international standards. She has appeared on TV, films, and theater productions in Singapore and the Philippines.

Directed by Tony nominee Michael Greif, DEH tells the story of high school senior Evan who is about to get the one thing he has always wanted: a chance to finally fit in. Both deeply personal and profoundly contemporary, DEH is a new American musical about life and the way we live it.

It features the music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and book by Steven Levenson.

DEH has been playing the Music Box Theatre (239 W 45th St.) since last December 2016.
