Partnering with Yamaha, Berklee College of Music, Blue Note Tokyo, Festival da Jazz St. Moritz, Crown Guitar Workshop & Festival and D'Addario, the 2018 competition offers an incredible prize package including professional opportunities in live recording and performing with Lee Ritenour, Yamaha performance at NAMM 2019, global travel and accommodations, mentoring, Berklee College of Music Scholarships, Monster and D'Addario prizes and more.

The Six String Theory Competition is the inspiration of Ritenour, who debuted the International Competition in 2010 with the release of his all-star guitar CD, "6 String Theory." The guitar-only contest was a great success and so with original sponsors Yamaha, Monster and Berklee, it expanded to include 3 new instruments: Piano, Bass and Drums and attracted wonderful, diverse talent from over 60 countries. Legendary Judges will work with Lee Ritenour to evaluate and determine the 2018 winners.

Lee Ritenour's Six String Theory Competition also became an official non-profit organization with the mission of supporting aspiring musicians towards a professional music career through scholarships, recording, performing, mentoring and prizes. Now holding biennial competitions, Six String Theory has become one of the premiere global music competitions.

In reflection Ritenour comments: "When I first started this competition it was my hope it would grow to become a valuable entity and one of the premier competition opportunities for the next generation of musicians. Now in the 6th competition, we have reached incredible goals and I couldn't be more thrilled and grateful to have so many artists be part of this extraordinary musical process and journey."
