Australia's DUGONG JR Returns with New Track/Video 'Holding On' (feat. Austen)

Melbourne-based producer, guitarist, and graphic designer Dugong Jr today releases his dreamy new single and video for "Holding On," seamlessly interweaving elements of house/electronic and indie-pop. Featuring vocals by rising Australian indie-pop artist Austen, "Holding On" is out now on Mad Decent.

Dugong Jr's contemporary sonic touch combines soulful beats with captivating vocals that morph and erupt into addictive rhythms. Always inviting curiosity in his complex production, "Holding On" folds together echoing synth details with moments of beat-driven bliss and vocal manipulation against an alluring percussive backdrop. The smooth, powerful melodies from Brisbane-based singer Austen command attention throughout, married with the producer's rhythmic pulses to keep the body moving with each and every listen.

"The song itself is about the idea of creating this sort of idealistic image of what a relationship is or was, kind of living in denial and holding on to that even if it's detrimental to an individual," Dugong Jr says."In the music video, I wanted to represent an abstract adaptation of the same kind of idea but have it be more visually quirky and weird. So I came up with the idea of stuffing your family pet and holding on to the memory of it (long past an acceptable timeframe)."

"Holding On" is the first to arrive with a promise of more new music featuring a host of incredible Australian artists. Dugong Jr's recent track "Voyager" feat. Ruby Chase followed suit from a collection of fan favourites including"Secrets" feat. Tashka and "See You Again" feat. Mayowa & Northside, drawing support from tastemakers BBC Radio 1, Vice, Triple J, Complex and more. A recent collaboration with Miss Blanks for the sassy number "This Bitch"propelled him further into the spotlight, all the while still reeling from the success of his remix of Mazde's "Fading Out",which has seen widespread acclaim and over 1 million streams on Spotify. His keen eye for precision and appetite for a refined take on intricate soundscapes has taken him across the globe while also owning homegrown stages at Splendour in the Grass, Brownies & Lemonade and Groovin the Moo.

With "Holding On", Dugong Jr today furthers his catalogue of impeccably produced singles and the glorious White Hearts debut EP released in 2017, firmly placing himself at the forefront of a generation of multi-talented artists. Now promising more new music to come, don't miss the first taste of the artist's stunning year ahead.
