STIFTERS DINGE By Heiner Goebbels Makes U.S. Premiere 12/16-20 At Park Avenue Armory

Stifters Dinge, created by the innovative German composer/director Heiner Goebbels, is the latest of his works to stretch the boundaries of live performance. The 70-minute-long sonic performance landscape was inspired by the writings of 19th-century Austrian romantic novelist Adalbert Stifter extended and minutely-detailed descriptions of nature. The title translates as 'Stifters Things.'

The Centaur Theatre Company is set to run their third season of Urban Tales, the English version of Théâtre Urbi et Orbi's 'Contes Urbaines' which has been presented every season since 1991. This season Urban Tales brings together four renowned Montreal artists to tell eight stories, all written by poet, playwright, producer, translator, publisher Yvan Bienvenue, with the theme of 'a day in the life of the city.'

The New York Philharmonic announces details about recordings being released from January-March 2010 as part of the Alan Gilbert: The Inaugural Season iTunes Pass - the new digital music series available exclusively from the iTunes Store (www.itunes.com and nyphil.org/itunes). Eight new releases comprising 21 works will become available over the three months.

Eighth Annual Modfest At Vassar College Celebrates The Arts Of The 20th And 21st Centuries

The eighth annual Modfest, a celebration of new music, dance, drama, film, literature, poetry, and the visual arts at Vassar College, will feature 30 events at various locations across the Poughkeepsie campus from January 21 through February 7, 2010. The Chelsea Symphony has announced its Fourth Annual Winter Concert on Friday, December 11 at 8 PM, at St. Paul's Church. The program will feature actor/playwright and drag legend Charles Busch in Aaron Dai's holiday favorite, the Night Before Christmas, following a tradition of celebrated guest narrators: Ana Gasteyer, David Hyde Pierce and Richard Kind. New York Times lauded flautist Jesse Schiffman will perform Mozart's First Flute Concerto and the program will be rounded out with the overture to the Marriage of Figaro and the Nutcracker Suite. The concert will be performed without intermission and will feature four conductors rotating from positions within the orchestra to the podium and back: Music Director Miguel Campos Neto, Ankush Kumar Bahl, Kyunghun Kim and Mark Seto.
