The Vermont Symphony Orchestra's annual season kick-off party takes place on Friday, September 11, from 6:00-8:30 pm at the Eastside Restaurant in Newport. The Dancing Sail will provide a gourmet buffet (cash bar). The evening includes a raffle to win a hotel overnight in Burlington plus tickets for one of the VSO's Masterworks concerts. In addition, there will be a silent auction with many exciting items, and a live auction featuring a beautiful handmade quilt created by Carolyn Ferrara of Westfield.

World Music Institute opens its spectacular 30th Anniversary Season with a four-night cross-cultural Lusophone Festival, featuring music from the Portuguese-speaking world with artists from Brazil, Portugal, Cape Verde, Angola, and Mozambique.
