Vermont Symphony Orchestra to Kick Off Season with SYMPHONY SAMPLER, 9/11 by BWW News Desk
- August 17, 2015 The Vermont Symphony Orchestra's annual season kick-off party takes place on Friday, September 11, from 6:00-8:30 pm at the Eastside Restaurant in Newport. The Dancing Sail will provide a gourmet buffet (cash bar). The evening includes a raffle to win a hotel overnight in Burlington plus tickets for one of the VSO's Masterworks concerts. In addition, there will be a silent auction with many exciting items, and a live auction featuring a beautiful handmade quilt created by Carolyn Ferrara of Westfield.

- August 17, 2015 Orange County, Calif.—Aug. 17, 2015—Romantic Russian masterpieces give way to a thrilling orchestral battle featuring fireworks, cannons and brassy fanfare for Pacific Symphony's “Tchaikovsky Spectacular,” featuring the composer's “1812” Overture. The program's centerpiece is Rachmaninoff's virtuosic showpiece—the achingly beautiful, grand and lyrical Piano Concerto No. 2, performed by Olga Kern. Born in Russia to a family of musicians with direct links to both Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff, the captivating pianist was the first woman in 30 years to win the Gold Medal at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition (2001). Led by Music Director Carl St.Clair, the concert opens with enchanting ballet music including excerpts from Tchaikovsky's “The Sleeping Beauty” and Stravinsky's shimmering Suite from “The Firebird.” Summer Festival 2015 comes to a dramatic close with an electrifying display of fireworks and 16 cannon shots in Tchaikovsky's victorious “1812” Overture, featuring the Huntington Beach Concert Band, which also provides pre-concert entertainment.

- August 17, 2015 MEDFORD, OR (August 17, 2015) — Members of the Britt Orchestra and Music Director Teddy Abrams will celebrate the unique majesty of Oregon's Crater Lake with performances at the national park of a world premiere commission by New York-based composer Michael Gordon, commissioned by Britt and inspired by Crater Lake. Abrams will lead approximately 40 Britt Orchestra musicians in the performances, with the dramatic panorama of the entire lake as the setting. The performances will take place over two days in the last weekend of July 2016, and will be free and open to all park-goers.

The Flex Passport offers 6 seats to *any concert (*some restrictions apply) in the current season. The seats can be redeemed all at once or broken into any configuration, using up to a maximum of 6 seats. Patrons can redeem benefits and book their seats through the Las Vegas Philharmonic's Concierge line at 702.462.2009, Monday – Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Seats must be redeemed by the Friday before the selected Saturday or Sunday concert.
