Celebrating its 20th anniversary with its second North American tour, the acclaimed German orchestra KlangVerwaltung,joined by the Chorgemeinschaft Neubeuern Chorus, will present two of classical music's most beloved masterpieces in a concert on Today, October 26, 2016 at Boston's Symphony Hall. They will perform under the baton of Maestro Enoch zu Guttenberg, whose interpretations of sacred and symphonic masterworks are praised worldwide.

On Today, October 25 at 8:00PM at Alice Tully Hall, The American Classical Orchestra, comprised of some of the world's leading period violinists, will present Vivaldi's Four Seasons. Violinists Judson Griffin, Lisa Rautenberg, Cynthia Roberts and Jorg-Michael Schwarz will perform on 1610 and 1615 Giovanni Maginni and 1668 and 1671 Jacob Stainer masterpiece violins. Also featured on the program are Handel's Concerto Grosso Opus 3, No. 2, Geminiani's "La Follia' Concerto and Albicastro's Concerto a Quattro Opus 7 excerpts. This concert will be conducted by Thomas Crawford.  Maestro Thomas Crawford will present a Pre-Concert Lecture at 7:00PM on October 25.

San Francisco Conservatory of Music Announces Winners of the 2016 Rubin Institute for Music Criticism

The San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) today announces the winners of the 2016 Stephen and Cynthia Rubin Institute for Music Criticism. Lucy Caplan, a PhD candidate at Yale University, was chosen by a panel of prominent national music critics to receive the $10,000 Rubin Prize in Music Criticism for demonstrating outstanding promise in music criticism. The Rubin Prize is intended to support further study in the field of music criticism and is disbursed over a two-year period. The Institute, as part of its mission to initiate public discourse on the topic of music criticism, also invited audience members to critique a concert by the San Francisco Symphony. John Masko of Rhode Island, a graduate student at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, was selected by the panel as the recipient of the $1,000 Everyone's a Critic Audience Review Prize.

The Santa Barbara Symphony, in collaboration with the Santa Barbara Center for the Performing Arts (SBCPA), will present a special family performance of Peter and the Wolf, Sergei Prokofiev's enchanting musical tale of adventure and bravery, at 3 pm on Saturday, November 26, in the Granada Theatre. Featuring celebrated storyteller Michael Katz as narrator, the concert will be preceded by interactive musical activities in the Granada lobby organized by the Santa Barbara Zoo, the Symphony's own Music Van, the Santa Barbara Public Library, and MOXI - the Wolf Museum of Exploration and Innovation. Ticket prices start at $10; family 4-packs are available for $25. Premium seating costs $50.
