The Hanover Wind Symphony will perform a special concert entitled And the Trumpets Shall Sound at the Morris Museum on Sunday, February 10 at 2:00PM.  The concert will feature the Hanover Wind Symphony's trumpet section, and guest soloist, Michael R. Baker.  The concert is being held in conjunction with the museum's exhibition, Trumpets, Weird and Wonderful: Treasures from the National Music Museum, which is on view through Sunday, March 17, 2019.

Youth Music Culture Guangdong Comes To A Triumphant Close With Marathon Concert

After nine rigorous, yet creative days packed with orchestra and chamber music rehearsals, masterclasses, workshops, and more, the third annual Youth Music Culture Guangdong (YMCG) drew to a victorious close on January 19 with a six-hour marathon concert 'From Brahms and Sibelius to the Unexpected.' The young musicians performed original arrangements and 16 chamber and symphonic works culminating in Brahms's Concerto for Violin and Cello in A minor with YMCG Artistic Director Yo-Yo Ma and violinist Johnny Gandelsman in the spotlight and Sibelius's illustrious Symphony No. 5 in E-flat Major, both under the baton of YMCG Music Director Michael Stern.

Zubin Mehta Bows Out of Concert Series with Israel Philharmonic Orchestra Due To Health Issues

The American Friends of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra today announced that Maestro Zubin Mehta has been forced to bow out of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra's upcoming 2019 U.S. Tour (Feb. 2-9) due to health reasons. Filling in for Mehta on the six-city tour is Yoel Levi, one of the world's leading conductors, known for his vast repertoire, masterly interpretations and electrifying performances.

Carnegie Hall today announced that pianist Leif Ove Andsnes must regrettably withdraw from his upcoming recital scheduled for Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage due to an injury to his elbow. Mr. Andsnes has canceled this concert and his US recital tour. Pianist Jonathan Biss steps in for Mr. Andsnes on the new program, which features three Beethoven piano sonatas. San Diego Symphony Orchestra Appoints Edo De Waart As Its First Principal Guest Conductor

The San Diego Symphony Orchestra (SDSO) announced today that Edo de Waart has been appointed principal guest conductor. The renowned conductor begins his new role – a first for the organization – in the 2019-20 season conducting the orchestra for three to four weeks a year. The initial agreement is for three years. De Waart has been a featured guest conductor with SDSO during the past five seasons.

Joining Mr. Fleisher on stage are notable friends and colleagues, Jonathan Biss and Yefim Bronfman, whom Mr. Fleisher has mentored throughout his illustrious career.
