THE WRONG VIEW OF HISTORY is Released
by BWW News Desk - February 10, 2016
Author Jack Paraskovich takes the 'other,' rarely taken, view of history that the majority of Western civilization conveniently pays no heed to in the way of living a truly civilized life. 'The Wrong View of History' (published by Xlibris) is a history that re-introduces readers to the warts and all aspects of life during two seminal periods in history. It is a provocative analysis of life, predominantly in The Middle Ages and Renaissance periods. People would shy away from the less palatable aspects of their history. Paraskovich, by reminding his readers of this, teaches precisely how humanity has progressed through the specific centuries, giving an organic and truer vision of how things were during those technologically deprived eras.

Glagoslav Publications Releases THE EXILE
by BWW News Desk - February 10, 2016
Title: 'The Exile' Author: Zinaida Tulub Publisher: Glagoslav Publications Language: English ISBN: 9781784379612 Extent: 444 pages Format: paperback, hardback, e-book The idea of writing about Taras Shevchenko first occurred to her when she was in her thirties, during a period spent living in exile in Kazakhstan (1947-1956). Initially, Tulub worked on the screenplay for a film called Kobzar and Yakin, which can be seen as an early prototype for the novel. She was only able to start work on the latter after her return to Kiev in 1956, when she was granted access to archival material and memoirs. She completed the novel in 1962. Tulub's primary goal in the novel was to celebrate Taras Shevchenko's indomitable will and his burning desire to fight for the liberation of the nation, even when he was in exile. Armed with a wealth of detailed biographical information about Shevchenko, Zinaida Tulub created a thrilling portrait of the poet that is both historically accurate and artistically convincing. Depicting the first period of Shevchenko's exile in a detailed, comprehensive manner, Zinaida Tulub adheres strictly to the historical timeline, tracing step by step the path that fate had in store for the exiled poet. She doesn't leave out a single detail from Shevchenko's life, adding light and shade to every important moment or turning point along that treacherous path. About the Author: Zinaida Tulub was born in Kiev in 1890. She was the granddaughter of an active member of the Cyril and Methodius Brotherhood. Tulub graduated from the Advanced Courses for Women (an educational establishment in Kiev) in 1913, but the first publications of her works appeared even earlier than this, in 1910. In the 1920s, she gave lectures for military units and was in charge of the literary section at the Kiev photo committee. She wrote the story At the Crossroads (in Russian, 1916) and two historical novels in Ukrainian: Hunters of Men, which is set in Ukraine in the early 17th century, and On the Boundless Steppe Beyond the Urals (1964), about T. G. Shevchenko's life in exile. During the Soviet era, she switched to writing in Ukrainian. Tulub also wrote poems, plays and screenplays and translated works by various Ukrainian and French writers into Russian. Review copies are available upon request.

Political Author Jean Sarantos Pens CRUSH! CRUSH! CRUSH! Book
by BWW News Desk - February 10, 2016
Political author, Jean Sarantos, in her new book entitled, 'Crush! Crush! Crush! (Heads, I Win. Tails, You Die!),' has turned a 'spotlight' on the economically and politically connected wealthy 1%. The book reveals the inner thinking and overt actions of the very powerful and wealthy wherever they exist anywhere throughout the world and throughout history. Sarantos has devised a creative device for telling their story. A fictional member of this elite has written an 'autobiography' that proudly reveals and explains all that is necessary to understand how he and his like-minded friends have risen to the top of the economic and political food chain. The philosophy for their modus operandi is the same as that of the Rulers in the popular motion picture, 'The Hunger Games': I am a predator. You are my prey. I take whatever I want. I route the flow of wealth from you to me. I suppress all efforts to challenge me. If you resist, I will crush you. 'Crush! Crush! Crush! (Heads, I Win. Tails, You Die!)' provides details and helps 'flesh out' and demonstrate this philosophy. It will help the reader to interpret and understand current events and to help make sense of the turmoil reported in everyday news stories. Thus, the reader will have a tool for understanding all current events. Furthermore, one of the 2016 Best Picture Oscar nominated feature films, 'Spotlight', exposes how the most powerful and prominent Catholic Church clerical elite and leading officials unbelievably systematically attempted to suppress their covering up of widespread and known sexual abuse of thousands of minor children. Author, Ms. Jean Sarantos, has rejected traditional interpretations of historical events learned in public schools and universities. She earned a B. A. degree in Political Science from Michigan State University and earned an M.A. degree in Political Science from The University of Michigan. However, the establishment's 'spoon-fed' limited pursuit of the truth fell far short of reality. Therefore, the author has researched and provided 150 citations, including many current sources provided to help interpret history and current events. Thucydides, Thoreau, Melville, Churchill, Kissinger, Ayn Rand, Robert Reich, Nomi Prins, and Matt Taibbi [whose kind words encouraged the author], are quoted to bolster the author's assertions. 'Crush! Crush! Crush! (Heads, I Win. Tails, You Die!)' is written in a lively manner with cartoons and limericks. Sarantos earned the honor of 'Professor of the Year for Academic Excellence' at Westfield State College (MA) and has completed over thirty years as an educator in public education. She has also published the book, 'It Takes a Potemkin Village (To Raise a Child's Test Scores)' [currently out of print] which revealed systematic cheating by public school administrators. Local Poet Launches New Collection, GO
by BWW News Desk - February 09, 2016
Connecticut-born author Brendan Walsh has drawn on his experiences across country and globe to write 'Go' (Aldrich Press), a new poetry collection that follows the journey of several voices through travels in Laos, South Korea, and across the United States. 'Go' grapples with nothingness, the primal ecstasy of movement, and the variance of human consciousness and desire. The focus begins on Lao voicesthose of a foreign speaker interacting with Lao monks and women planting rice, a quiet observation of an unknown but familiar place. It moves to South Korea, inhabiting the voices of two Koreans and an outsider at odds with a foreign culture. Finally, the collection ends in the United States, the former home of a speaker who feels empty but sees flashes of brilliance on road trips and in day-to-day life. Ultimately, the collection reconciles its longing with movement, finding answers outside of concrete explanations, but through the act of doing and being purely in the flesh. 'In this full-length collection, Brendan Walsh wins us the way Buddhist temples win over acolytes: with their truths about suffering, the community of prayer halls, sacred reliquaries that follow the emptiness of courtyards. This poetry grounded in the experience of place becomes animate, takes form, gathers Laos, Korea, and the U.S. in its hot dance, a globe spinning to the rhythm of the eternal divinity in each of us,' says Lynn Houston, author of The Clever Dream of Man. 'Go' is an energetic and wise first collection, and its travels continue well past the final page,' adds Ruthless's Jeff Mock. 'Go' will launch during National Poetry Month with a book release on April 2, 2016 at New Haven's Lyric Hall Theater. To learn more, visit brendanwalshpoetry.com/gobook or contact publicist Mukethe Kawinzi at brendanwalshpoetry@gmail.com for an advanced review copy. About Brendan Walsh Brendan Walsh has been published in Connecticut Review, Off the Coast, Mason's Road, Lines + Stars, Noctua Review, Drunk Monkeys, and other journals. His first collection, Make Anything Whole, was published by Five Oaks Press in January of 2015. From 2013 to 2014, Walsh taught English on a Fulbright Grant in Vientiane, Laos and has also taught in Masan, South Korea. He currently lives in New Haven, CT and serves as Assistant Director of International Education at Southern Connecticut State University, where he earned his Master of Fine Arts. His work has been awarded the Anna Sonder Prize of the Academy of American Poets, the Leslie Leeds Poetry Prize, and a Freedman Prize for poetry in performance. BATTLEFIELD ON EARTH Released as Commemorative Edition
by BWW News Desk - February 09, 2016
L. Ron Hubbard's international bestselling novel Battlefield Earth is being released nationally as a commemorative edition by Galaxy Press this coming Father's Day, and includes a special dedication to the writers and editors who made science fiction's Golden Age a reality. In a 1983 interview with the Rocky Mountain News, done when Battlefield Earth was first published, Hubbard commented on the period known as the golden age of science fiction, 'Those of us who were there writing during that period have a unique viewpoint because we were there. 'Golden age' was a later characterization. At the time, it meant simply an explosion of interest and opportunities.' And so the dedication to 'Battlefield Earth' (www.galaxypress.com) is singularly unique in that L. Ron Hubbard recognized 87 individually named writers and editors of the 1930s and 40s who were all part of that explosion. The dedication simply reads, 'This brand-new novel is dedicated to Robert A. Heinlein, A. E. van Vogt, John W. Campbell, Jr., and all the merry crew of science fiction and fantasy writers of the thirties and forties-The Golden Age-who made science fiction and fantasy the respected and popular literary genres they have become today.' In defining that merry crew, Hubbard proceeds to list an additional 84 names. Hubbard continued, 'Some who wrote the pulps were called 'just science fiction writers.' But history has proven that they were the ones who brought about the future-not the naysayers. We knew then that Man would travel to the stars and we know it still.' Concepts coming to fruition or now gaining widespread scientific recognition-ranging from microchip implants, robot drones and teleportation to the existence of other planets at the rim of the observable universe-were initially conceived of and written about decades ago by science fiction writers such as Philip K. Dick, Robert Heinlein, L. Ron Hubbard and H.G. Wells. The June commemorative paperback edition of 'Battlefield Earth' will be available at GalaxyPress.com, Amazon.com and BN.com and will contain expanded content including author's handwritten notes and an author interview. The 47 ½ long audiobook is the longest fiction multicast audiobook ever produced comprising 67 actors performing 198 different characters with a soundscape employing over 150,000 sound effects and over 3 hours of original music created for the audiobook. For more information about 'Battlefield Earth' and the upcoming release, go to www.GalaxyPress.com.
