GERALD W. LYNCH THEATER at John Jay College presents We Are the Music, a free performance performed by Chloe Arnold's Syncopated Ladies tonight, November 7 at 8pm at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College, 524 W. 59th Street, NYC. Tickets are free but reservations are required: www.jjay.cuny.edu/Theater. The performance is part of a residency of the CUNY Dance Initiative.
Gallery Players' PROOF Opens Tonight

The Gallery Players 48th season continues and offers up Proof by David Auburn, the 2001 winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and the Tony Award winner for Best Play. This beautiful and haunting story explores a woman dealing with her brilliant but mentally unstable father's death and how much madness and / or genius she will inherit. Proof is directed by Gallery veteran Mark Gallagher (Equus, The History Boys), and features the talents of Justine Campbell-Elliott, John Blaylock*, Bonnie Wickeraad* and David Gazzo. Proof will open tonight, October 25, 2014 at 8pm and run through November 9, 2014.
BASQUIAT: THE UNKNOWN NOTEBOOKS Exhibition to Open in April 2015 at the Brooklyn Museum

Eight rarely seen notebooks created by Jean-Michel Basquiat between 1980 and 1987 that have never before been presented to the public form the core of a new exhibition, Basquiat: The Unknown Notebooks, on view at the Brooklyn Museum from April 3 through August 23, 2015. The exhibition features 160 unbound notebook pages, filled with the artist's handwritten texts and sketches, along with thirty related paintings, drawings, and mixed-media works drawn from private collections and the artist's estate.

This is the second straight New York premiere for the Heights Players, following on the heels of last month's New York premiere of The Great Gatsby, and this one brings mayhem and madcap adventure to the John Bourne Theater as only Ken Ludwig can do!

In a three-day marathon performance that is part intergalactic jam session and part haunted house party, Emily Dickinson OUTER SPACE! explores the uncharted dimensions of Dickinson's poetry in search of what it means to be American, wild, and free. A performance event as vast as the cosmos, this is the second installment in The POP Trilogy from award-winning artist collective Theater Plastique (Gertrude Stein SAINTS!). Following a workshop performance at The Fury Factory Festival of Ensemble Theater in San Francisco in July 2014, Emily Dickinson OUTER SPACE returns to her native coast this September at The Bushwick Starr. Over the course of 72 continuous hours, the doors of the theater will remain open for a performance event featuring 88 singers, dancers, and musicians wherein Theater Plastique invites the vastness of Dickinson's poetry to again build a universe within a single room.

4th Annual Communal Spaces Festival Moves to Brooklyn

Now in its fourth year, The Communal Spaces Festival will premiere eight new short plays inspired by and performed in community gardens in Bedford-Stuyvesant and Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. The festival will take place on the last weekend in August and the first two weekends in September. Previous festivals have included site specific performances in community gardens on the Lower East Side, East Village, Upper West Side and Harlem. In the past four years 27 new works have been presented. This year's titles include Washougal My Heart, COMPETE ME and ALTHEA THE GARDEN CANTATA.
