Strings Who Sing is a chamber ensemble featuring four singer-songwriters who accompany themselves on bowed string instruments, inspired by the legacies of Rhiannon Giddens, Abel Selacoe, Carla Kihlstedt, and Laurie Anderson. The project is the longtime dream of Boston-based artist Flight Or Visibility (aka Raf Natan), who has written most of the music for the ensemble, which offers sonic textures ranging from minimalist melody to lush orchestral soundscapes with a 'classical punk' aesthetic. This concert marks the ensemble's live performance debut, featuring WTMA faculty Flight Or Visibility, WTMA Director Nora Maynard, cellist Valerie Thompson, and violinist Clara Rose. ASL interpretation will be provided for the performance.
