Proxies at Doris Duke Theatre, Jacob's Pillow

Choreographer and researcher Ilya Vidrin makes his Jacob's Pillow debut with Proxies, a work developed during Pillow Lab residencies in 2018 and 2023. Presented with in-the-round seating and live music created in real time by musicians responding to the dancers, the piece highlights the intersection of dance and technology. Dancers wear custom-designed sensors as the work draws on research into loneliness, data privacy, and the ethics of care, exploring what body-tracking data reveals about human connection and what slips through.
