The traditional Parade of Flags opens the 2026 Lowell Folk Festival on Friday, July 24 at 6:15pm, marching through downtown Lowell to Boarding House Park. The Middlesex County Volunteers Fifes and Drums lead the parade in recognition of the 250th anniversary of the United States. More than 40 flag-waving groups, each composed of local residents representing their ancestral homelands, march from City Hall to Boarding House Park.
