BIKEncerto: a concerto for solo bicycle and orchestra is a live performance by Somerville-based percussionist, composer, and producer Reynaliz Herrera, featuring herself as bicycle percussion soloist alongside her ensemble Ideas, Not Theories. The work treats the bicycle as a serious solo instrument, with each movement highlighting a distinct sonic characteristic — from tuned tire pressures and spoke melodics to the metallic resonance of frames, chainwheels, and wheel rims — accompanied by a strings and woodwinds orchestra. The piece, which appeared on The Boston Globe's "Best of Boston Music" 2023 list and received a Global Music Award, reconciles Herrera's found-instrument voice with her classical conservatory background. This performance at The Cabot is part of a Spring 2026 tour supported by a Live Arts Boston grant from The Boston Foundation.
