CSC Presents Shakespeare And The Law 2019: Belief And The Burden Of Proof Through The Lens Of The Bard

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC), in collaboration with the Boston Lawyers' Chapter of the Federalist Society, are pleased to present its 16th annual Shakespeare and the Law series, focusing this winter on the subject of "Belief and the Burden of Proof" through the lens of Shakespeare's plays, directed by CSC's Associate Artistic Director Adam Sanders and produced by McCarter & English partner Daniel J. Kelly.

Around this time last year, Chicago-based theatre troupe Manual Cinema made its debut appearance at ArtsEmerson: The World On Stage with a five-day run of ADA/AVA. Having been a big hit, they have returned for a second visit, presenting THE END OF TV for a two-week run at the Emerson Paramount Center. If you can't decide whether to watch television, see a movie, or go to a live performance, Manual Cinema has got you covered with their multimedia style of entertaining storytelling. In addition to live-action silhouettes, overhead projection, video, puppetry, and humans, it is all backed up by a five-piece band playing and singing an original score.
Huntington Offers Free Tickets To Federal Government Workers

Huntington Theatre Company is now offering free tickets to performances of A Doll's House, Part 2 for furloughed government workers. A Doll's House, Part 2 is now playing at the Avenue of the Arts / Huntington Avenue Theatre (264 Huntington Avenue, Boston) in a co-production with Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Written by Tony Award nominee Lucas Hnath and directed by Obie Award winner Les Waters, performances will run through February 3.

Starting Saturday, February 2nd at 7:00pm, The Mosquito at the Provincetown Theater will perform every first Saturday night of the month thru April 6th. "We're thrilled to pop up at the Provincetown Theater for an extended season," says The Mosquito's creator Vanessa Vartabedian. "Having performed in many plays at Provincetown Theater since 1996, I can't imagine a better place to add to this history than by bringing new storytellers to the stage and new stories to Provincetown."

Love is in the air with Opera Theater of Cape Cod's (OTCC) Valentine's weekend benefit concert Some Enchanted Evening: A Valentine's Gala on Saturday, February 16, 7:00 pm, Wellfleet Preservation Hall, 335 Main St., Wellfleet. Joseph Turbessi serves as music director, and Ethan DePuy is stage director. Black-tie dress is encouraged, but optional. Proceeds from the performance fund OTCC's expenses for its production of Puccini's La boheme, being performed this summer.

Focusing on the lives of nine teenage girls, it is played out on a suburban soccer practice field where the challenges of the game are mingled with the challenges of coming of age. It is a welcome sight to behold.
Chester Theatre Company's 30th Season Features Four New England Premieres

Producing Artistic Director Daniel Elihu Kramer has chosen to begin the season with the New York Drama Critics' Circle Best Play Winner The Night Alive, written by Irish playwright Conor McPherson, as a tribute to CTC's co-founder, Vincent Dowling, who served as Artistic Director of Dublin's Abbey Theatre in the late 80s, and who helmed CTC from its founding until 1995.

Wheelock Family Theatre at Boston University's production will reveal the contemporary resonances of the Tony Award-winning musical, Ragtime, based on the novel by E.L. Doctorow with book by Terrence McNally, music by Stephen Flaherty, and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. Performances will run Friday, January 25th (Opening) through Sunday, February 17th with Fridays at 7:30pm, Saturdays at 2pm and 7:30pm, and Sundays at 2 pm.
