Provincetown Art House Season Announces Star-Studded Lineup

As summer's latest heat wave breaks, a surge of star-power will amp-up the footlights inside Provincetown's (air conditioned!) Art House and Town Hall theaters for Producer Mark Cortale in August & September. For Tickets and information, visit www.ptownarthouse.com or call 800-838-3006.

At Town Hall, Provincetown's largest venue, Mr. Cortale will present Mega-watt duo Debra Messing, the Emmy Award winning star of Will & Grace, performing together with Kathy Najimy, star of Hocus Pocus and the Sister Act films, on August 4, with Brian Nash at the piano. RuPaul's Drag Race season 8 winner Bob The Drag Queen returns by popular demand with her show Crazy Black Lady on August 11. Historic six-time Tony Award Winner Audra McDonald will return to Cape Cod with Sirius XM Radio star Seth Rudetsky as music director and host, on Labor Day Weekend, Sunday, September 1 for Broadway @ Town Hall series in Provincetown - and this show will include performances on Monday, September 2 for Broadway @ Cotuit Center for the Arts, and Tuesday, September 3 for Broadway @ Dreamland on Nantucket Island. The Town Hall series will be raising funds this year for Sandy Hook Promise.

This year's ninth annual Broadway @ The Art House series accelerates into late summer with more of Broadway's brightest stars: Michael Cerveris, Tony Award winner as Best Featured Actor in a Musical for Assassins and Tony Award winner as Best Actor in a Musical for Fun Home, performs for one night only solo on guitar on August 9; he's followed by Liz Callaway, Tony nominee for Baby and star of Cats and Miss Saigon on Broadway as well as the singing voice of Princess Jasmine in Disney's animated Aladdin series of films, returning to P-Town on August 16 & 17 with Alex Rybeck at the piano; Beth Leavel, Tony nominee and current star of the Tony nominated and Drama Desk Winning Musical, The Prom and winner of a Tony Award as leading actress in a musical for The Drowsy Chaperone makes her Provincetown debut on Broadway, on August 18 & 19 with Seth Rudetsky as music director & host; Faith Prince, Tony Award winner for Guys and Dolls and star most recently of Broadway's Disaster! The Musical, returns to the Art House for two nights only on August 25 & 26 with Alex Rybeck at the piano; Marilyn Maye, Grammy nominee and living legend who has been called "The greatest white female singer in the world" by none other than Ella Fitzgerald" returns for her ninth consecutive summer, August 28 - September 1 with Billy Stritch at the piano; and Christine Pedi, star of Broadway's Chicago, Talk Radio and Little Me and daily host of SiriusXM Radio's On Broadway channel, takes the stage on September 7.

Comedy and music stars opening new shows on The Art House's twin stages will include Tori Scott, hailed as one of Time Out New York's Top 10 Cabaret Artists, returns for one additional performance of Tori Scott is Pickled, on July 29, with music direction by Jesse Kissel; Deven Green the award-winning Canadian comedy chanteuse known for her video parody character "Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian," returning for three nights only with a new show entitled The Marvelous Mrs. Green on Aug. 3, 5 & 6; Unitard, the comedy trio that Time Out NY called "incredibly vicious and relentlessly hilarious" heads back to P-Town with their new show Badassy, starring Mike Albo, Nora Burns and David Ilku on August 9 & 10 for two shows only; Well-Strung the singing string quartet (which includes two recent contestants on TV's "The Amazing Race") who began their international career in P-Town, make a homecoming for one week only with an all new show, August 11 - 15; and the Afterglow Festival will take over the venue from September 10 - 14.

Meantime... summer-long hit shows will continue weekly for Varla Jean Merman's, "A Star Is Bored" running now through September 6, with Gerald Goode at piano; Emmy-winning comedian Judy Gold performs now through August 30; Miss Conception's new solo show TV Land runs through September 8; The Kinsey Sicks, all new show entitled Naked Drag Queens Singing plays through Sept 8; Steve Grand, the singer who burst onto the scene with his video An All American Boy and his #3 Billboard Independent Album, takes stage with his new solo show through September 5; Varla Jean, Jinkx Monsoon and Liza Lott in the parody The First Wives Fight Club written by Varla Jean Merman & Peaches Christ multiplies the hilarity through September 5; RuPaul's Drag Race Season Five winner Jinkx Monsoon thrills with her new show Together Again, Again! with cohort Major Scales through September 8.

About Mark Cortale and The Art House: Mark Cortale (Producer) co-produced the critically acclaimed new Off-Broadway musical Midnight At The Never Get by Mark Sonnenblick at The York Theatre this past October which recently received 2 Drama Desk and 3 Lucille Lortel Award nominations including Best Musical. He produced Deconstructing Patti on Broadway last September at the Nederlander Theatre with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS starring Patti LuPone and Seth Rudetsky. He created the Broadway @ concert series in 2011 at The Art House in Provincetown where he serves as Producing Artistic Director. The series, featuring creative partner Seth Rudetsky as music director and host, had its eighth season this past summer and guest artists over the years have included Patti LuPone, Audra McDonald, Sutton Foster, Megan Mulllally, Christine Ebersole and Jessie Mueller. The Broadway @ series also premiered in 2013 in New Orleans, in Australia (Sydney & Melbourne) with Megan Mullally and in London's West End with Patti LuPone at the Leicester Square Theater. The series has since travelled to cities that include Chicago @ The Steppenwolf, Beverly Hills @ The Wallis, Fort Lauderdale @ The Parker Playhouse, San Francisco @ The Herbst Theater and Scottsdale @ Scottsdale Center for the Arts. In the 2018/19 the series launched at The Town Hall in New York City with six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald. This season the series will launch at the Emerson Colonial Theatre in Boston with Jessie Mueller & Seth Rudetsky.
