LOVESONG to Star Karen Allen and David Garrison at Berkshire Theatre Group

Berkshire Theatre Group's upcoming production will feature acclaimed actors Karen Allen and David Garrison, joined by BTG favorites Rebecca Brooksher and Shawn Fagan, under the direction of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and longtime BTG collaborator David Auburn at The Unicorn Theatre.

Written by acclaimed British playwright and screenwriter Abi Morgan, Lovesong moves fluidly between past and present as one couple reflects on the choices, joys and heartbreaks that shape a lifetime together. Blending memory, imagination and reality, the play explores the enduring power of love and the fragile beauty of growing older together.

Previews begin Wednesday, July 22 at 7pm and Thursday, July 23 at 7pm, with Opening/Press Night on Friday, July 24 at 7pm. The production closes Sunday, August 23 at 2pm.

Karen Allen and David Garrison bring extraordinary warmth, intelligence and emotional depth to this beautiful play,” said BTG Artistic Director & CEO Kate Maguire. “Combined with Rebecca Brooksher and Shawn Fagan—two artists with deep roots at BTG—this cast brings an incredible level of heart, humor and humanity to Lovesong. I know audiences will be deeply moved by this remarkable story.”

Karen Allen is widely recognized for her celebrated film career, including Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Starman and Animal House. A longtime favorite of Berkshire audiences, Allen first traveled to the Berkshires in 1981 to portray Gittel in Two for the Seesaw at Berkshire Theatre Festival. In more recent years, she has returned to direct productions of Moonchildren, Extremities, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune and Outside Mullingar.

David Garrison is best known to television audiences for his role as Steve Rhoades on Married... with Children and has enjoyed a distinguished Broadway and regional theatre career. BTG audiences may remember him from the company's world premiere production of Coming Back Like a Song, in which he portrayed Irving Berlin.

Joining Allen and Garrison are Rebecca Brooksher and Shawn Fagan, both familiar faces to BTG audiences and longtime collaborators of director David Auburn. Brooksher and Fagan have appeared in numerous Auburn-directed productions at BTG, including The Importance of Being Earnest, Photograph 51 and Abe Lincoln in Illinois, creating a meaningful artistic throughline that continues with Lovesong.

Abi Morgan is the writer of numerous acclaimed works for stage and screen, including The Iron Lady, Suffragette and The Hour. Lovesong premiered in the United Kingdom through Frantic Assembly and has been praised for its lyrical storytelling and emotional resonance.
