Actors' Shakespeare Project Sets New Venues, Casts for 2015-16 Season

By:

Actors' Shakespeare Project (ASP) today revealed new venues and casting for the next two productions for the 2015/16 Season, Affairs of the Heart. The company's 12th season opened with the tragedy in Othello, now playing until October 25 at The Modern Theatre at Suffolk University. Next ASP explores romance in The Winter's Tale, war and strife in Richard II, and comedy in The School for Scandal. "ASP strives to present bold themes-the kind audiences not only expect, they demand of us," says Artistic Director Allyn Burrows. "Our upcoming productions will deliver on that expectation, offering up a bounty of theater at the extremes of human emotion." The Winter's Tale by William Shakespeare, directed by Melia Bensussen December 9, 2015 - January 3, 2016 ?Willet Hall at United Parish | Brookline

Our hearts break over the misunderstanding at the center of The Winter's Tale, as jealousy becomes the fiery catalyst for cruelty and banishment. Forgiveness does ultimately win out over mistrust, keeping this sublime romance just out of the eager clutches of tragedy. Richard II by William Shakespeare directed by Allyn Burrows February 17 - March 13, 2016? YMCA Central Square | Cambridge

Those crazy English kings, always fighting with their cousins. The passing centuries do little to untangle their sordid rat's nest of politics and family dynamics. While an end to enmity among the powerful remains elusive, even today, in Richard II, some of the most beautiful poetry ever written interplays in between the battles. The cast will feature Doug Lockwood* (Richard II), Marya Lowry*, Paula Plum, Michael Forden Walker*, Robert Walsh, and Malcolm Ingram* Designers include Janie Howland (Sets), Dan Jentzen (Lights), Tyler Kinney (Costumes), and Arshan Gailus (Sound).

PRESS PERFORMANCE SATURDAY FEBRUARY 20 AT 8PM

The School for Scandal by Richard Brinsley Sheridan directed by Paula Plum April 13 - May 8, 2016 Multicultural Arts Center | Cambridge
Intrigue and mischief drive the proceedings to heights of hilarity in Richard Brinsley Sheridan's masterful comedy of manners. Heartfelt flights of fancy have made this rollicking romp a crowd favorite since The Restoration, fueled by high stakes games with higher consequences that will also tickle your heart. The cast will feature Lydia Barnett-Mulligan*, Sarah Newhouse, Omar Robinson, Richard Snee, Bobbie Steinbach, Gabriel Graetz, and Michael Underhill. Designers include Michael Griggs (sets), Karen Perlo (lights), Anna-Alise B (costumes) and Edward Young (sound).
