So, has anyone rushed during the week lately? I only rushed on the weekend so far. Is it less crowded during the week? What time would I have to get there to get the front row tickets? Thanks! :)

I rushed last Tuesday...got in line around 9:30am and was 6th in line (got the side 2 front row seats).

This morning I walked by the theatre around 8:30am and there were 3 people in line. I wasn't rushing today so I'm not sure how the rest of the morning went.

Wondering if the Tony nominations are going to make this rush a lot more popular...

What time should I get there for a Sunday matinee. I am dying to see this show.

The box office opens at noon on sundays. Judging by the length of the line when I went this past Sunday, I would say get there around 11am and you should be fine.

Just putting my two cents in, but I think the Tony nominations had a big impact. I rushed the show last Thursday and got there around 9:45 and was 7th in line. We ended up getting box seats.

However, we rushed again today (5/6) and got there about the same time and there were literally 30 people in line already. We stuck around anyway, and by the time we got about halfway to the box office, they announced that there weren't any rush seats left. We did however end up getting the cheaper last row mezzanine seats, which aren't bad at all. It also didn't hurt that there was an empty row near the front of the mezzanine so we moved during intermission.

But yeah, I'm thinking you're going to have to at least get there around 9 or so.

I went 2 weeks ago Friday and got there at 8:50 am and was 9th in line. It is seriously like the new Spring Awakening. You'll have to try your luck but go earlier and earlier. 2 weeks ago Wednesday at 9:45am was too late, the line was insane. So it really depends but I'd go the earlier the better. maybe 1 1/2 hours early.

The saturday/sunday rush can be deceiving since it's essentially a line for both shows. Last Friday 5/1 my friend rushed and got there probably around 8 and was third in line. We went Sunday, got there around 10ish and ended up in the 4th and 5th seat for the evening even though we were much further back in line.

I've been trying to use this to gauge how early one should get to the theater for the Tuesday rush, but it seems like a lot of people posted from before the Tonys or on two show days. lately, how early are people lining up for, say, Tuesday or Thursday shows?

We got there today at 10-1015 and I was number 10 in line so we got the boxes.

I got there yesterday around 7:20 and was second in line. Right after I sat down, two more people came up. And three more before 8 ~ so if you're going for front row center section, before 8 is probably a good idea.

If I get there relatively early for double-show days can you choose which performance you want rush tickets for?

yes you can. i've rushed on sundays a few times, you can only get two tickets, so you can either get one to both shows or two for one show.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I assume the line starts at the door by the actual box office (ie, closer to the Shubert Alley store)?

Usually, the line starts by the blue awning.

Recently, shortly before the box opens, the guy who hands out the totally useless wristbands has been coming out and moving everyone to Shubert Alley to line up. Updated On: 5/15/09 at 11:50 PM

Say you go really early and are the first person there.. will you automatically get first row all the way on the side? or can you chose to be in the center?

They start with AA101, which is on the aisle, but certainly not "all the way over to the side."

As long as the front row center isn't being used by the house for something (press, new understudies, house seats, I suppose in theory Tony voters...) they start with AA101.

Out of the 400 Next to Normal rush threads, no idea why I chose this one to reply to -- I guess I just liked the subject title.

Anyway, on the rush line now on a Saturday morning. It's 6:30am and there's about 20 people here.

I got here at 4:10am, and was the 4th on line. 6 people by 5am, 15 by 5:30am.

Wow. Unfortunate. I walked by yesterday around 9 and it had reached the last set of theater doors on 45th st.

The box seats are good: a great view of second/third level of stage- really amazing, but you miss some of action depending on which side. But still a great view, especially of 2/3rd levels. :)
Have fun!
