So there will be a stage version? The Variety article seems to be saying that she will do both versions.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
I'm expecting a musical witha similar concept to Gypsy. Musical based on legend's biography...anyone else see that? And I love Hathaway...bring it on!

After seeing Rachel's Getting Married I'm excited to see Hathaway tackle this role dramatically. But, will they be using Hathaway's own singing voice? I just can't see her, or anybody else for that matter, doing justice to the Garland standards.
Although I enjoy Anne Hathaway, no one will ever be a more brilliant Garland than Judy Davis AND Tammy Blanchard. How different will this production be from Me And My Shadows?? That was such a brilliant movie.
^ Just like no one was ever more/as brilliant than: Ethel Merman or Angela Lansbury in GYPSY (Patti LuPone) Idina Menzel in WICKED (Stephanie J. Block) Zero Mostel in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (Topol, Harvey Fierstein) Joel Grey in CABARET (Alan Cumming) Ethel Merman in ANNIE GET YOUR GUN (Reba McEntire)
That notwithstanding, I am excited for this. I was watching Prada last night and thought that Anne could actually play a very passable Audrey Hepburn.
I love America. Just because I think gay dudes should be allowed to adopt kids and we should all have hybrid cars doesn't mean I don't love America.

I am very excited for this. I never thought much of her as an actress, until I saw Rachel Getting Married. She was fantastic. I can't wait to see more of what she can do.
also, I hate all the Idina haters of the world. I think she was great in the role, I liked her.
Blanchard and Davis were dubbed in "Me & My Shadows" with Garland's own voice. I think that is the issue being discussed here. Annie H could be great - but no one can sing Garland -like Garland.
Even Angela Basset as Tina Turner was dubbed (with the real Tin'a voice) in "What's Love Got To Do with It."
Laughter is much more important than applause. Applause is almost a duty. Laughter is a reward.
Carol Channing
Anne has a good voice though, doesn't she? She was in some benefit concert, I thought and most people were surprised by her voice?
Or does she just have the wrong voice for the part?
I'm afraid I don't understand this... they're making a movie AND stage adaptation? Will it be on Broadway? Before or after being in movie theaters? Anyone?

Plus--this was the bio took the low road, filled with anonymous sources claiming Judy gave blow jobs to mafiosi while singing Over the Rainbow and gargling their semen.
