The rear mezz isn't that bad. I saw Gavin Creel practically climbing on people back there.

The view was fine, but I really liked being up front for the cast interaction. I moved to the back of the orchestra for the second act b/c I was sitting with some very obnoxious people.

Loved it. Loved it. Loved it. Loved it.

Need I say more?

Kinda missed the star power (read: Jonathan Groff), but the Broadway cast still did an AmAzInG job. So much youthful, charged energy on stage.

So one more time: Loved it.

I'm actually Groff didn't join the cast...it would turn the show into Fangirl island.

I saw it tonight! I am so happy that Groff didn't sign on. Greel is amazing! His Claude is three dimensional! His relationship with Berger is wonderful. It was heartbreaking to watch them during Good Morning Starshine and Yippee! I had tears welling up watching them.

Greel also was able to act his way during the songs rather then doing the American Idol singing style. His Where Do I go was sung with serious soul searching. I was actually blown away!

Saw the show yesterday, and I love it so FREAKING much I cannot even... just... I wanted to go back even before it ENDED. That's how flipping fantastic it was <3 The ONLY weakness I saw in it was that there were parts that were kind of hard to follow, and also I don't know if it was just because we were in the box seats, but the sound was a little muffled in terms of understanding what people were singing. But honestly, that barely even mattered at all, with the pure ENERGY that was radiating off of that stage. The entire thing- the staging, the lighting, the cast (of which there's not a single weak link), everything. 100% brilliant.

And, just for the record, that's with Gavin having been out- which, you know, lots of my draw to go see the show in the first place came from Gavin's being in it haha.

(It was amazing and funny though, because his understudy, Jay- my mom and I know him!! He was in Hairspray up in Weston, VT and we met him there, and then we randomly ran into him again in NYC like a year ago, standing next to him and rocking out to Hairspray on Broadway for Marissa Perry's first show- she was also in Hairspray in Weston! And we had NO IDEA he was in Hair!! So it was so adorable- he was up right by us in the end, and saw us, and after the curtain call he ran over and gave us hugs and everything, and was so excited we were there hehe. He's SUCH a sweetheart, and even though I was very sad not to see Gavin on my first time out, I still felt proud to have seen Jay's first time because my mom and I clearly have a thing with him hehe. Aaand he did an awesome job- totally sounds a ton like Gavin! I shall be going back pleeenty of times, so I'll get my fill of Gavin re: Let The Sun Shine In! The official HAIR love thread...)

A couple other notes:
- Will Swenson is so freaking gorgeous it's not even funny, and he was a COMPLETE blast to watch. Soooo damn good.

- Caissie Levy is awesome, and has the coolest voice

Count me in for those who are thrilled Gavin Creel joined the show. I saw Groff and Hanke in the park, both of who did great jobs, but Creel just bring something else to the role...I was also in tears at the end of the show, something which didn't happen in the park. And let's not forget the rest of the wonderful cast!! I absolutely love Will Swenson as Berger and Bryce Ryness as Woof. And I saw Jackie Burns as Sheila last Wednesday, which I think was her first time on. She blew me away, she had a wonderful Good Morning Starshine. I really can't wait to go back...and I've seen it too many times already! lol.

I neeeed to go back ASAP and see Gavin. Again, totally lurve Jay and he's the sweetest of sweethearts, but.. still, Gavin is Gavin. When I saw he was out my heart sunk.

Oh and I'd also just like to say that, having loved the music from Hair but never really having known the story before, I did NOT realize it was so heartbreaking in the end re: Let The Sun Shine In! The official HAIR love thread... Really, really rather upsetting. Of course then by the time the curtain call is done and everyone's been rocking out hardcore to Let The Sun Shine you feel good again haha. But the ending itself really is just so sad. But such a very important message, and still frighteningly relevant to our world today. When will we ever learn? *sigh*

snl: my exact thoughts at the ending. I had no idea that Let the Sunshine was such a depressing but poignant moment. Really shocked me- I was crying like a baby.

Having the post curtain call dance with the audience is such a great way to end the experience. It brings a great sense of hope to the message.
