I was wondering what, if anything people here usually get for a souvenir? (to shows they have seen) All the shows I'v been to sell anything from magnets to t-shirts to posters. For myself, I prefer magnets. They last forever and don't clutter my space and make me wonder what to do with it years later! What do you like to get, if anything?
If I like the look of the t-shirt and the show, I'll get a t-shirt. They're pretty expensive though. Usually they cost as much as my tickets to the show.
I normally like posters and Shirts and Sweatshirts. Every shirt I own is from a show. Almost all of my sweatshirts comes from shows. Right now I have a Billy Elliot shirt on (BE Inspired) and and In The Heights sweatshirt.
I will get a poster if I like the graphics. I have lots of posters.

I tend to go for tees and posters. I like books sometimes (not souvenir books, but the script or companion books), or something really random that a show has specific to them (like the Mrs. Lovett apron from Sweeney 05, though I didn't get it cuz I had no idea when I'd ever wear one, lol).
I find that magnets, mugs and keychains usually don't do it for me. Although I could see them all the time I think it makes less of a memento. But that's imo.
You're reminding me of people you hear at the movies asking questions every ten seconds, "Who is that? Why is that guy walking down the street? Who's that lady coming up to him? Uh-oh, why did that car go by? Why is it so dark in this theater?" - FindingNamo on strummergirl
"If artists were machines, then I'm just a different kind of machine...I'd probably be a toaster. Actually, I'd be a toaster oven because they're more versatile. And I like making grilled cheese" -Regina Spektor
"That's, like, twelve shows! ...Or seven." -Crazy SA Fangirl
"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott
There's only one shirt I regret getting, that I haven't worn since the summer (and I believe I only wore it once). And the show is so bad, noone would buy it on Ebay.
I used to get T-shirts, but I've stopped because I usually never wear them because I'm afraid of washing them and wearing out the graphics. They're so expensive you'd think they'd find an ink that would last longer.
I usually get some Candy at a drug store. I also after the show get a poster on ebay or if it is an Equity Fights Aids thing I will buy something like a signed poster or a signed playbill.
I always get a souvenir program. I love looking at them at reliving my memories of the show. And I actually look at them a lot, so I've never felt like I wasted my money on them.
If I really like the show and like the t-shirt design, I'll get one. I try to stay away from them, though, because they can be pretty expensive. I only have a few, but I wear them all the time. I also have sweatshirts from two shows (I got the South Pacific hoodie for Christmas and love it!)
I've only ever gotten two windowcards (one from Spring Awakening and the other from the 2008 Sunday in the Park with George). I got them signed at the stage door, but I'm still looking for frames.
Other than that, I just keep the playbill and put it in my Playbill Binder.
I go for the magnets for the fridge. If I can't get there to see a show I want a magnet from, my friend, who sees everything, gets one for me and sends it. I also like t-shirts but only if I like it. My 2 favorites right now are my History Boys and Color Purple tees. I also collect Playbills and have them sent to me when I am not there to see a show.
I always buy the programme (English equivalent of a playbill although, unlike the playbill, it isn't free) and souvenir brochure. Occasionally I'll buy a t-shirt or sweatshirt, but only if it doesn't have the name of the show emblazoned across the front. I've also bought a notebook a couple of times.
My Civil War T Shirt did not last as long as the show.
We go for magnets which are all over the fridge. We may need a new one soon as we have almost no room left. We also get occasiona T's & once in awhile a cup.
I told Mrs R to wear her Eat Me T to work but she declined.
I'm another one who is content merely with the Playbill.
Once upon a time I would buy the t-shirts from various shows (I still have the HELLO, DOLLY! shirt) but there comes a time when you stop advertising things on your chest. As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing worse than a man over 50 wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with a show logo. (Are you listening, Mr. Roxy?)
I always get a poster to hang up in my room, and a diet coke at intermission.
I'm a professional. Whenever something goes wrong on stage, I know how to handle it so no one ever remembers. I flash my %#$&.
"Jayne just sat there while Gina flailed around the stage like an idiot."
I always get a program and a magnet. And I am always looking at the programs. I have a magnet from every show i've seen. I put my magnets on this thin metal strip about 2 inches wide and about 10 feet high and the magnets hold my tickets to the shows i've seen. It is fun to go back and see the date I saw a show and think why I went and saw it.
"i had no idea billy elliot was about one boy's triumph over epilepsy."-FindingNamo
I'm one of those people that the merchandise people love because I tend to go overboard. haha. At every show I have to get a t-shirt (the logo one, sometimes I get a random one if it's a show I really like) the program book and the pin (if the show has one). Plus I have a few hoodies, and bags.
I also keep all my playbills (most signed) in my playbill binder. And I keep all my ticket stubs too.
Neatless to say, I'm running out of room for all my souvenirs, and I have more shirts / hoodies than what I should probably admit, but I love them! They are fun ways to remember a great show and a great night at the theatre. Plus I love to show off my love for certain shows.
My goal is to one day go to a theatre and spend less than $100, haha. It's bad.
