Wasn't he doing some television series?
Does he have anything coming up besides the Hollywood Bowl gig in August?

PEACE.

Was JLY in that video? Or is that the pilot for the show?

Thanks Brody.
(BTW, you DO realize that one of those threads is a year old, right?)
Here is wishing him well. I just thought he HAD a TV show in the works, not just a deal with a network.

PEACE.

Yup. I did realize that which is what really prompted me to provide those links. That emphasizes the fact that things sometimes never happen or just take some time.

Many Broadway actors have gone thru numerous pilot seasons with no luck, even though some have had network deals. Remember, tons of pilots ARE indeed filmed annually, but the majority never air. The shows we see on a Fall TV Schedule line-up are just a handful that the TV networks were interested in. For all we know, JLY most likely has filmed 5 pilots that didn't 'sell'.

Every pilot season numerous actors head over to L.A. and try their luck filming pilots for potential network shows. We never find out who or what because these pilots never 'sell', so they're back in their regular Broadway jobs until the following pilot season. Just take a gander at the dates most actors working on Broadway take their vacation and this justifies quite a bit.

Remember, to an actor... landing a gig on a successful network show is like winning the lottery. It not only brings them financial security (earning a week what would take them 2 years on Broadway), but it helps to expose them and their names to millions which in turn will bring professional interest in them and which will help them acquire future acting gigs.

One of the tv shows he was offered was Pushing Daisies. He was offered Lee Pace's part in the show.

Thanks for clarifying, Brody.

Worrell, do you know why he turned down the lead in an ABC show?
You say that was ONE of the roles he was offered, where there others?

PEACE.

Worrell is a bit confused and I have pointed this out a while back on an off-topic Pushing Daises thread, and somehow he still has it in his mind that JLY was offered Pushing Daises.

Here is the quote from the Playbill.com interview with John Lloyd Young:

"One of the projects that passed through Young's hands features a number of other stage stars: 'Pushing Daisies' with Kristin Chenoweth, Lee Pace, Anna Friel, Swoosie Kurtz and Ellen Greene. 'I saw the script, which I thought was great. Literally, like an hour after I got off the plane in L.A. to read for it, I got a call from my agent that it was cast. All of those things were easy to take in stride because I was starring in a Broadway show.'"
