Yes, folks, it's the weird video of the day.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=snOsxN7prXA

Minnie Pearl introducing "The Rhythm of Life" from Sweet Charity, performed by Dean Jones, Ricardo Montalban and a chorus of bad dancers in (what looks like) Bob Mackie's version of the Ascot Gavotte.

It must be seen to be believed.

These people must have been paid good money to stand up there and do that with straight faces.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

My.....eyes....they're bleeding!

Although Ricardo was quite tasty looking, even in though he's dressed like Aimee Semple McPherson.

I didn't realize Ricardo Montalban was hot.
The choreography was laughable, especially the poor dancer going to the right lifting their arms, then going to the left and lifting their arms again. Just bad. So this was their way of promoting the film????

a chorus of bad dancers in (what looks like) Bob Mackie's version of the Ascot Gavotte.

Genius!

I feel like I just dropped acid.

And I get the feeling that someone involved with that number did, too.

And when Ricardo sang, "Hit the floor and crawl to Daddy", my gut response was "SURE!!!"

Not to threadjack, but I've come to the conclusion that Ricardo is one of the coolest people in the universe. Did anyone recognize his voice as the talking cow in that episode of "Family Guy"?

Ricardo was a hottie back in his day at MGM!

Here he is with Esther Williams in "Neptune's Daughter."

They introduced the (Oscar-winning) song "Baby, It's Cold Outside" in that movie, along with Red Skelton and Betty Garrett.

This thread has reminded me of a joke that I haven't told in ages:

What is Minnie Pearl wearing now?

A Shroud-DEEEE!!!!!

Ricardo Montalban can SO be my daddy, no complaints whatsoever here. What a hottie.
And let me show some love for a pre-COMPANY Dean Jones. No one can match his Bobby.

Yeah, this must have been right before "Company." This was taped in 1969, and Company was 1970.

There was a time in my youth when stuff like this was on network television ALL THE TIME.

No wonder I grew up the way I did.

what TV show was this?

does anyone have any Clips of Ricardo dancing w/ Cyd in "Alone on an Island With You" or his numbers from "Two Weeks of Love"? Those movies are the only 2 dance films I know about that happened before he broke his back.

I can't find ANY clips of "Two Weeks w/ Love". Evidently it was the last dancing he did before breaking his back and living w/ a paralyzed leg.

When did his accident happen?

Did he not do any dancing on Broadway in "Jamaica"?

My dear friend Andrea King appeared with Ricardo and Cyd Charisse in "Mark of the Renegade" at Universal. She said he was absolutely wonderful to work with, and yes, devastatingly handsome. Here's a candid photo from Andrea's own scrapbooks of the two of them on the set.

I thought you might enjoy it.

That's a great candid photo, Besty!
I love that clip too. Watching it I didn't know who I envied the most, Cyd Charisse or Ricardo Montalban.

In the book "From Cyd Charisse to 'Psycho':a Book of Movie Bests", author Dale Thomajan explains why he thinks that Cyd Charisse is the most gorgeous woman ever to appear in movies.

He says that if God were merely a craftsman, he would have settled for Esther Williams. But, Cyd Charisse shows that God is an artisan.

In a clip like the one with her and Ricardo, I'd say he has a pretty good arguement there...
