I know that. I'm just saying that it's cute. Sheesh.

Yankee - sure. Company isn't just about the pros and cons of marriage. It's very much about isolation and disconnect, and longing to connect. Look at the set, for example; people have said that the cubes represent ice cubes, or museum displays. I recently saw the video tape of the original production ('72 tour) at the Lincoln Center library, and was astounded to find how much physical contact had been in that production. John Doyle removed almost all of it. There are a lot of instances of really distanced staging, but karate scene is one of the best examples of that scene, because they're engaged in a physical fight, but they're standing on opposite ends of the stage. Those choices amplify the disconnection we experience in our relationships -- especially being in a big city.

Eh....I still don't like it. You can still be isolated touching someone. I think we've all been there. I can say why he would do it, though.

I like some of the camera angles they chose, especially those with Bobby in the foreground and the couples out of focus behind him. Seeing the entire stage, along with the different uses of lighting, is great for me, since I sat front row for the show.

My only complaint is that the audio mix is unimpressive. At spots, the girls sound shrill (especially in "You Could Drive a Person Crazy"), and the instruments are too loud and drown out the vocals.

I wonder how they'll handle censoring April's dialogue in the second act!

Faigs, most PBS affiliates are running this again after midnight, and a few more times later in the week.

Oh really? I thought it would be sooner. re: Company Commentary Thread Oh well. I'm hoping that someone will be extremely kind and put the show up on YT.

Heh, okay. I just hate those "IT DOESN'T HAVE A POINT!" accusations, so as long as it's not one of those. re: Company Commentary Thread But, I think he had to show it somehow; and his work is full of really heavy symbolism. So it fits. But I've also studied his work a lot, so I can see how it would turn people off, just as an immediate reaction.

Yes, it will, you can order it on the PBS website.

Yes... its being released on DVD and high definition Blu-ray disc. General release is May 20, 2008. Pre-Order thru the PBS store and the release is March 17, 2008. Do a BWW search for more details and photo of the cover art of the DVD.

My only gripe about this 'film' is that it was shot on film and not high definition video. Though it looks simply delicious on high definition film, it would have been phenomenal on high definition video -- it would have been virtually 3D.

Back to the show.

The Bobby/Kathy exchange is probably my favorite non-singing part of the show.

Oh, I'm sure it has a point. Except so far for "Another Hundred People," I've loved the direction of the book scenes, but I don't like the songs that much. The scenes are brilliant though. I adore April.
