I will be returning to visit NY in May and I was hoping to get some advice regarding Broadway tickets. When I went last year I had already booked all of my tickets online and as I had tickets to 6 shows in 8 nights I kind of promised myself that this time around I would be a little bit more relaxed so that I could have a couple of unplanned days to experience lotteries or purchase onstage tickets etc.
To those who frequently attend Broadway shows, do you think there would be a chance that there would be fairly decent seats available for a couple of shows on any given day? The problem is that there are now so many shows that I really want to see that I can see my schedule being booked up once again before I even arrive (yet again).
Also - do you think there is a good chance that Patti Lupone will still be performing regularly in Gypsy in May?

I'm sure La LuPone will still be performing regulary in May. I would try lottery/rush on weekdays.

I would book your tickets ahead of time using discount codes. If you wanna keep your schedule loose, then just book a couple. Once you're in New York and feel like watching more shows, then go to the TKTS booth, or try to get rush tickets, if you're a student.

brettystar, you don't accept PMs.

Make sure you see August..

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

You should buy onstage seats in advance. Spring Awakening's usually sell out a couple of months in advance (they release new blocks of tickets each month and have a pre-sale for club members - it's free to join). Xanadu's usually sell out a week before the performance date.

Xanadu's usually sell out a week before the performance date.

Unless you're going during the week. Obviously it's not guaranteed, but I've been able to get stage seats on the day of the performance going during the week.
