"SWEENEY TODD (yes, it had exit music)"

I know--why isn't it in the published score?? I mean, it's just the transition to Mrs. Lovett's pie shop and A Little Priest, but still...

I really liked the one for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. It was a jazzy version of Dirty Rotten Number, and it always left me in a good mood.

I don't really pay toooo much attention to exit music, but I WILL say that for Next To Normal they played just an instrumental version of I'm Alive, and it was SO rocking. omg. Everyone got up and was dancing around and stuff to it, and I was like "ooo i love that they chose this song as the exit music!!"

I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.

THE WOMAN IN WHITE's I think is the best! (You can hear 3 parts of it [I actually think it was like 4-6 minutes longish depending on when you saw it (previews, etc.)] in the Broadwayworld video for it)

I also liked Jekyll & Hyde's curtain call and end music as one piece together.

I LOVE when the exit music is recorded on CD. Usually it's just on the Jay Records studio CDs though. My favorites are the ones from musicals with sad endings that lift your spirits with "peppy" exit music. Cabaret comes to mind, but I don't remember it being included in the revival.

I LOVE exit music.

When I saw the title of the thread the first that popped into my mind was that of "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels."

The Company 1970 production was the first that came to mind. I also love the Jekyll and Hyde and Carrie ones as well, plus Wicked has some exciting exit music as well.

City of Angels and Guys and Dolls (recent London revival). My favourite is probbaly Ragtime - I remember at the last night of the London production most of the audience stayed to listen to the exit music and gave the orchestra a huge cheer at the end.

Have to admit, I did quite like The Woman in White playout as well...

Yankeefan007, you're sooooo right. "Two Gentlemen of Verona" had great exit music. The audience sat through all of it the night we saw the show. AND we got to see Raul Julia live. Sublime.

I'm glad that was recorded, too. I like it when people record their exit music on the cast recordings. It makes it sound like you're at the theatre, ready to get your coat and hat and exit.

Ah, exit medleys. Since they're so rarely recorded, a memorable exit medley will live on as the one piece of music you can only hear in the theater...that can make it the most satisfying part of the score, I think.

Bit of a cliche, but I do really enjoy the exit music for Rent. It's a good compilation of tunes, and, given the state of the show in recent years, it's nice to have at least one unchanging piece of music that isn't tainted by a lackluster performance.

Also agreed about the terrific exit music for Two Gents. What a treat that it was included on the OBCR.

Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public has some fabulous swinging dance music on the cast recording. Of the current crop of shows, Curtains has a rowdy and raucous exit music arrangement of "It's a Business" that I wish had been recorded.

Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

Love the exit music. I believe the exit for Curtains is It's A Business, am I right or not? I saw a girl and her guardian (I don't know if it was her mom or her aunt) dancing to the music.

Dreamgirls is fantastic. I wish it was on the concert recording. In fact i don't even remember if they played it when I saw the concert version.
