Happy Birthday to Rhoda Morgenstern#1
Posted: 12/7/07 at 11:28am
All the best to the woman who survived more bad parties given by pal Mary Richards and more bad dates in Minneapolis [where it's cold and she figured she'd keep better] and NYC than any other human being.

Let's hope Mare and sister Brenda are helping her celebrate with panache.

And some Sara Lee cheese cake.
Do you know what happens when you let Veal Prince Orloff sit in an oven too long?

Whatever happened to Phyllis' daughter? I LOOOOOVED Rhoda- just disappointed when they gave her that shlub of a husband. How dare he hurt my Rhoda? Valerie Harper was so believable as a Jew! Thanks for remembering her! mom

David Groh, a schlub?!

He was a wet dream!

Not his looks! David Groh was VERY handsome. I meant his character's personality. I was so mad when Rhoda first introduced Joe to Mary and he was yelling. I just wanted Rhoda to have a dream man- (a character like Mr. Sheffield on The Nanny). Thanks, mom

I always thought Mr. Sheffield was a bore!

Great house, though.

I loved his British accent and I like how well he treated Fran. He was successful and Fran didn't have to worry. Rhoda was always so stressed out and down on herself. I know that was her character and why we loved her so much- but I wanted her to have more joy in her life. I thought Mr. Sheffield was very handsome. Of course, I'm a little biased. I started liking Charles Shaugnessy when he was Shane Donovan on Days of Our Lives- now that character was very sexy.

He hated sushi- ok, NOW, I have completely changed my mind! Actually, I forgot all about that! It's funny, Fran and Charles had so much chemistry on that show yet when she did that really horrible show about 2 years ago- Living with Fran, Charles played her ex-husband and there was NO chemistry between them! Anyway, back to Rhoda. When I saw the windows in NY a couple of weeks ago, I kept thinking about Rhoda. I used to think that was such a cool job she had- to decorate windows in NY! mom

I wonder what ever happened to all of Joe's top three buttons.

Rhoda was hot. It was a shame she was saddled with Joe who didn't appreciate her beauty and wit.

Mary was shrill, vanilla, and dumb.

In real life, too.
Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

Yes, but Mary was very good to her friend. Gotta lover her for that. Mary came from a wealthy background. Her dad was a cardiologist. I loved how she accepted Rhoda and learned from her. My favorite episode is when Rhoda won the beauty contest at her work. When I was little, I never understood why Rhoda cut her looks down so much- I always thought she was beautiful. Valerie still is. Mary is a little scary. mom

They filmed the MARY & RHODA movie right next door to my apartment building, and the crew would often come into our lobby to chat. Guess who was the crew's beloved? And who wasn't?

I love Valerie Harper. I love the character of Rhoda, and no matter how dumpy they tried to make her look her beauty always came through. I never quite believed the "fat, insecure jewish girl" aspect of Rhoda's character because Valerie is such a looker.

Valerie and Mary respectively.
