So with all the commercial success of jersey boys, youd think a musical of the same style would be under work...but about frank sinatra.
His life would definetly be a great story, and the music is clearly amazing...not to mention the rat pack, the movies, the friends, the women.
i think it would be a great show.
'Acting provides the fulfillment of never being fulfilled. You're never as good as you'd like to be. So there's always something to hope for.'
-- Washington Irving
There was a multi media production called 'Sinatra At The Palladium' 2 years ago. It was basicaly a lot oh high tec screens moving around the stage as the dancers danced around them. It had a huge 25 peice orchestra on stage and i think 12 dancers. Once you got over the novelty of people singing toduets with on the screens that was it! It got luke warm reviews and closed 2 months early after just 5 months. Im sure there is a full book musical in Sinatras life somewhere.
A young actress with Noel coward after a dreadful opening night performance said to him 'Well, i knew my lines backwards this morning!''
Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'
How about NANCY Sinatra: The Musical. Now *that* I would go see!
All kidding aside, I think it would be great if someone put together a musical about 'Ole Blue Eyes', he led quite a life and had an amazing career. There is plenty of material there.
I'd like to see a Musical based on Sinatra's Career. He knew so many great entertainers. I don't want a bunch of projection though. Some, if done right but what I have seen often looks cheap and no replacement for actual, lifelike scenery.
Arggh..terrible projection work on a Nutcracker performance I still cringe over it to this day. Nice projection work on Avenue Q. So it can be done but as a replacement for real props and scenery no please!
