I actually love your pics-- specially pic 1 & 2 - you can even see the dead vines growing on the exterior of the house.... Its really sad that the show closed.. I'm sad too bec. there's a lot of people that were not able to see the "brilliance" of Grey Gardens... I will missed the sounds of bird chirping at Walter Kerr Theater
I love the fact that when you enter the theater- youll hear birds chirping and see the whole dilapitated house as a "curtain" then when the show starts you'll see Little Edie with her binocular peeping thru the window , then the old lady going outside (The Girl Who Has Everything number) then the whole house opened to reveal a younger Edith Beale !!
Wow !! I will definitely miss the show...BTW - Who was the Little Edie peeping thru the window - Is that Christine Ebersole or a double ? bec. how can she change so fast from the Little Edie costume to a glamorous Edith Beale when the house open up ? J* Updated On: 7/30/07 at 02:47 PM
I am so haunted at the beginning of the show... specially the part of voice over..saying..." In a statement released today ...Miss jackie release......" then all those news cliping projected thru the dilapitated house...
I love the part of "The Girl Who has Everything" that part of ..."beauty & sublime" then the whole house open to a younger Edith Beale.... just beautiful !
oh... I am having goose bumps just thinking about it...
and also the End of ACT 1- after the Will You number ? when Christine Ebersole as Edith Beale sat on the couch then the whole house close to reveal her inside the house looking outside the window... Oh my ! that was soo incredible !
I cant believe that I can re-imagine the whole musical by just listening to the OBCR--It really sticked to me !
If anyone here is a photo expert and has any idea what they are, I'd love to know. I looked at my camera lense and it doesn't have any marks so it can't be that.
My camera does that sometimes too, when I'm taking pictures in a darker setting. It's probably just the flash.

It could just be the lighting. That's happened to me before.
I'm really sorry that this brilliant show is gone.

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...

By the way, Megan Lewis is the biggest non-bitch I've ever met.
She's actually the balls, and anyone who thinks differently, can kiss my ass :]
I love America. Just because I think gay dudes should be allowed to adopt kids and we should all have hybrid cars doesn't mean I don't love America.

The last performance, to me was special and touching. My personal favorite moments were Ebersole's beautiful "Will You", and at the very end when Edith was calling for Edie. It was truly amazing. My first closing performance as well.
People around me seemed to be videotaping (without permission of course, but no one seemed to care) the curtain call. Wouldn't it be great if it were put up on that site.
"Scott Frankel (who spoke at the end of the show-I have most of it recorded if anyone is interested...I just have to upload it) and Michael Greif were also in attendance. Scott Frankel was signing away after the show. I spoke to him breifly afterwards as well. He was also very patient and gracious."
EVERYONE was there! Michael Korie was there. I ran into him as I entered the theatre and thanked and congratulated him. He was very kind. Doug Wright was there. I ran into him afterward and gave him a breif "Congratulations" to which he replied, "Thank you so much." Michael Greif was lovely and Scott Frankel and I talked a little. All of the creators were so nice. I noticed Harvey Evans, the legendary Broadway gypsy in attendance. I'm assuming he's a big fan, as well as that YouTube celebrity, William something? I think Michael Riedel was in attendance too. (I was surprised he was there, as I thought he disliked the show. Maybe it wasn't him.)
Not suprising he was there, as he's a big fan of Christine and the show (and he's hilarious).
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
'Orbs" The English press has been full of pieces about supernatural orbs recently. Many pictures were seen to have tiny orbs in them associated with dead relatives etc. Very interesting and worth looking into Fosse! Perhaps there were 2 'unexpected guests' there on Sunday?
A young actress with Noel coward after a dreadful opening night performance said to him 'Well, i knew my lines backwards this morning!''
Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'
Check out this great slideshow curtesy of The New York Times. Supposedly, Eva Beale (a great niece of the beales) will be releasing a coffee table book with additional pictures in September. BEALE PHOTO SLIDE SHOW
