Just saw Gypsy tonight for the 2nd time, sitting in the third row. Anne Meara, Jerry Stiller and Martha Plimpton were in attendance.

In any event, after the entr'acte, Patti is the one who is putting the title card into the marquee stage right. When she walks over, she sees a Playbill (or whatever CC is calling them) on the stage, left by the woman sitting in the far left seat in the front row. She puts the window card in and quickly kicks the Playbill off of the stage HARD so that it flies off and hits the woman! She smirked and walked off to play the scene.

I love this woman!

So let me see if i have this right, if someone kicked a playbill at you and it hit you in the face, you would be fine with that?

And the person who did it we should worship?

Hope the woman sues the arse off Patti, if she did that to me, the Playbill would have been thrown back at her!

It was almost as thrilled as when Glenn Close stopped Sunset Boulevard after With One Look to ask the audience if they wanted to either take pictures or see the show. I was there for that too!

I love moments like that - LIVE THEATRE PEOPLE!

They never said the woman was hit in the face. And I doubt Patti really meant to hit her with it. She probably just wanted it off the stage.

Yeah, because you could sue for getting hit in the face with a Playbill.

Love her.

I don't know why people think they are allowed to put their Playbills on the stage...

I wouldn't be so rude as to leave any item on a stage where an actor who was doing there job could trip, fall and injure himself or an audience member.

Have to agree, Ignorant to place a playbill on the stage but beyond rude and self-righteous to kick it off into someone. She's playing a role in musical, not the second coming....

If Patti kicked me in the face with a playbill I would be far from pissed.

I'd get her to sign it.

Jesus Christ, I love her. Now let all the random-ass bashing begin!

ETA: And she's got pretty fanfukingtastic aim!

You are right it did not say face, i read that wrong. My Bad.

As for sueing, please you guys sue everyone all the time for some of the most stupidest of things. But having some crazied bitch who thinks she is better than god kick something at you, has a better chance of going to court, than saying the dry cleaner losing your pants.

Because she's be SO sure that Patti was aiming for her.

And other actors have done this. Jason Alexander would kick Playbills off the stage in Jerome Robbins' Broadway.

BUT how would Patti know WHO actually left it on the stage? I doubt she knew who exactly left it. It might not have been the woman she hit.

I think it would be great to see her kick it but to hit a woman? Oh but I did laugh at the assumption that it was in her face. Whenever we read that our minds tend to just subconsciously continue on with "in the face."

For one thing, it's "suing."
For another thing, it's "most stupid."
And last but not least, you're generalizing everyone who's not you? Did WE sue the Dry Cleaners?

Saw it twice...she's great, NOT the second coming. And she had to go out of her way to kick the playbill off the stage to "make her point". The area where she places the title card is a good 3-4 feet away from the lip of the stage. If shes trying to make a point of how the theater and stage is sacred, perhaps she should subscribe to the same line of thinking and continue to live in the world of the play she has been waiting to do all her life, and not worry about a piece of glossy stock w/her mug on it on the lip of the stage.
