iPod: about 6,000 tracks of random stuff (less than 5% are showtunes).

Currently listening to The Highest Judge of All/You'll Never Walk Alone from the OBC of Carousel, on my iTunes.
And Evita is in the one CD player I own.
Theatre is a safe place to do the unsafe things that need to be done.

But I do listen to 'Floyd Collins' a lot.

Yes, the HAIRSPRAY Film Soundtrack IS somewhat better than the Original Broadway Cast Recording. Just the souped-up orchestrations adds so much to the music. Rememeber, the Broadway show was orchestrated for a few musicians in the pit, whereas in the film they had a huge orchestra at their disposal.
One track that was unanimously panned and hated on the OBCR was "(The Legend of) Miss Baltimore Crabs" is now one of the most popular tracks on the film soundtrack.
